I am 30 years old, and am having enough issues with actually being 30 plus a few other emotional disasters going on right now.
I just got turned down when trying to buy a scratch ticket because I just popped into the store while checking my mail and didn't have my ID on me. I am somewhat less than amused, considering the cashier was barely 20 years old herself. She was somewhat apologetic about it and debated changing her mind (which I get, they're super strict on ID checking on some places and it could cost you your job) but this was still majorly annoying.
At this point, its NOT a compliment, its a pain in the butt. This thread is currently associated with: N/A

Hey! Ogreswife!
You just got a HUGE compliment.
You could do a commercial for Youth Code because you look young.

I am guessing the store or the cashier has been reprimanded before for not checking identification for scratch tickets and cigarettes and are having a zero tolerance policy on employees not checking identification.
Just remembering my retail work days and what it is like on the other side of the counter.

Oh I understand she was just following policy, but it doesn't make it any less annoying.
I'm admittedly an emotional basketcase lately, so its extra annoying. *crank*

everyone says I should be happy that i'm going to look younger than I am for a long time.
but at the same time it's SUPER ANNOYING. lol

If it makes you and c_mcarther and ogreswife feel better, I had to work in the Smoke Shop at a grocery store. They asked me to check i.d.
First, I hated working in the smoke shop. So I decided to have some fun with the job, as Shwa Girls do sometimes.
I asked everybody for their I.D. Including a 65 year old lady. She blushed and laughed and I had some great conversations with my customers.
So, y`all, I`m just trying to turn a negative into a positive.
Also, I do not work for LOreal or Youth Code. And I don`t own any stock.

I am envious I never get carded anymore (in my 30's) but my husband who is older than me, only by 2 years not the point though he is older and he always gets carded. Grrr he even has some grey hair. But he does look really young still makes me feel old.

I always get carded whenever I don't have my kids with me. I usually just ask dh to pick up a lotto ticket for me on Friday. I don't drink or drive so I refuse to invest 50$+ just to get a photo id to buy the occasional lotto ticket. dh has id but they never ask him for it. The only reason he has id is because he picks up packages for me whenever they don't deliver something. (like they just leave a delivery attempt notice instead of ringing my doorbell.)

I'm 30 too and I get carded for everything still too. Sometimes it's a compliment but other times when I have my toddler with me and have to pull out my id(cus
apparently showing my id through the plastic slot in my wallet is not enough) it drives me nuts. So I get how annoying it can be for such a small somewhat silly purchase.
