I can't think of anything specific, but I was always pretty gullible and believed what people told me. On the other hand I took advantage of my younger brother's gullibility a couple times too. My cousin and I told my brother that the antlers on the basement wall in Grandpa's house were still alive and were always watching you... it was years before he would go into the basement alone.

My father used to tease me when I was young that they found me in a garbage can. My mother would always get so upset with him LOL. One day I dug up my nursery photo from the hospital and there it was my baby braclet with my last name on it around my wrist .

Ok you know those miniature versions of furniture they have on display in stores? Well I was looking at these tiny microwave stands I think it was at Walmart, this was maybe 20 years ago, and I said to my husband who has a small microwaves like that? He still bugs me about it especially when we see mini furniture or mini tents at CT.

I am repeating this one for those that did not hear it. I was led to believe ( as a very young kid , maybe 5-6 yrs old ) that if I did not dry the silverware properly it would cry in the drawer. So that was imprinted I guess. One day when I was around 11-12 yrs old I think a friend was waiting for me to come out and I yelled out loud " just a minute till I dry these or they will cry in the...." As the words came out of my mouth I suddenly realized I had been duped by the best, my Mom!

Let's see...... There are many things I was lead to believe as a child.....
1) pepper when inserted in your nose will make you sneeze like the cartoons. FYI, it doesn't. It just BURNS!!!!!
2) the mini scoop that appears to be melting ice cream on your pancakes is real ice cream. Again FYI, it's NOT! All you get is a mouth full of butter!!!!
3) the bogeyman is real in that he is a crazy old man that lived in the shed type house in the field at the bottom of my grandma ravine in Denmark. AND he liked to kill little blonde girls and was chasing up up the ravine and was close to grabbing my legs which freaked me out even more!
Just to name a few. Come to think of it these were all told to me by my brother!!! Excuse me while I find him and beat him now lol

- Coffee is good for you. Coffee is bad for you. What will the food producers fool me with next?
- Milk is bad for you. Milk is good for you. What will the food producers fool me with next?
- Eggs give you high cholesterol. Eggs are good for you. What will the food producers fool me with next?
- Saturated fat in meat is bad for your heart. Meat is good for you. What will the food producers fool me with next?
- Organic fruit and veggies are better than non-organic. There is no difference with non-organic fruits and veggies if they have a thick skin.
- Fish is good for you. Fish has too much mercury, and is bad for you.

My mother convinced me that mothers have a 6th sense and can 'read' deep pain and joyous bliss. Which she used to make sure I did not fool around with girls do things that would make me feel guilty.
^^^ it worked!

The Boogie Man lived in the machine shed on our farm.
If you put an elastic around your wrist, your hand will fall off.
The principal was an ogre with a giant strap in his office.
The list goes on and on...
Then there was the day that I came home refusing to eat anything red because my teacher told me that red food dye is poisonous and I didn't know the difference between aritficially and naturally red foods. There was also the day that my family had to swear up and down that there was no way I could possibly become a "midgit."
Let's just say the adults learned to be very, very careful about what they said when I was within earshot.

Another one was that my parents could tell I was lying because I had a black mark across my forehead. They would touch my forehead and say there was a line there and when I looked in the mirror there it was. It wasn't until I was older I realized they smudged my forehead!!!!
