Thread: Deep Fryer, Need Help...

Is there an electric deep fryer which has a stainless steel bowl? Or all of them are enamel coated?
Do you have a deep fryer? Does it have an enamel coated bowl? I'm concerned about that, is it healthy to fry in an enamel coated bowl? And can it get rusted over a time?
Please help me, I'm confused.
Thank you. This thread is currently associated with: N/ALast edited by Mia; Thu, Mar 27th, 2014 at 09:22 AM.

I saw your post earlier - no, don't have a deep fryer. When I deep fry, which is rarely, I use a dutch oven - does the job just fine.

I have moulinex deep fryer it's some kind of look like iron based coated.
i have that one for the last 2 years and it's healthy if you keep changing the oil at least after 2 to 3 months.
before this deep flyer I had tfal,
no rust at all for both of them

I also have the moulinex fryer which is exclusively at Canadian tire and I had that one from the last 3 years, use twice a week and change the oil after every 3 months or some times after four months it depends how much I did I used and what is the condition of the oil,no rust at all but I also wash it every 6 to 8 months just from inside.
There is no need to change the filter for this fryer.

We have an older philips one and the basket is all metal and I'm fairly sure the whole inside is too. No rust. I don't think oil has the same effect on metal as water does.

I just recently bought one so can't comment on that. But growing up my mom had the same one for like 10+ years and then she gave it to me when I moved out. The enamel insert never had an rust nor the metal basket. I got rid of it because we never used it.
Now I have this dinky B&D one in which it takes like 10million basket worths to get enough frys done. Oh how I wish I never tossed Mom's gigantic fryer.Insert Clever Signature Here

we have the stainless steel Beaumark deep fryer and it works fine so far. We also have the Tfal Actifry which actually works great for french fries - we tried it with frozen store bought french fries and home made french fries (cut from potato then straight into actifry). Both methods for french fries worked. Pretty amazing and you only use a small teaspoon of oil. Tried janes frozen chicken in the actifry too. A healthier option if you want.

Our deep fryer croaked on us last year. So at Christmas we decided to go with an ActiFry. Was pretty skeptical about it and while certain things are better in the fryer (schnitzel) we really like it. French fries (frozen, or fresh cut) turn out nice and crisp, fish, and chicken wings have turned out great.
