Which Tims classic is due for a comeback?

Our menu has evolved over the years. Items have come and gone.
Now, to celebrate our 50th anniversary, we're reviving one long-lost fan favourite for a limited time.
Stay tuned as we reveal the 5 classic contenders in the running - one from each decade. Then, on May 1st, it's your turn to step up to the plate and vote here for the item you want us to bring back.

The winner, which will hit Tim Hortons locations across the country later in the year, will sadly only be available for a limited period.

First one revealed - from the 60s - the eclair

Apparently one of the items they said earlier they were getting rid of is the walnut crunch, and that's my fave item, so I'd wish for that to stay.

As for oldies coming back, I'd love the return of the bowtie - a huge doughnut which I used to share with my son!

you can't even buy anything at Timmies that doesn't have gluten, except for soups... it sucks for me because i have gluten sensitivities...

They announced gf macaroons - no contamination since they are made off-site

I know it's not much, but at least it's something sweet.

sadly the soups are mixes and also have gluten in them ( thickeners ), but thanks, you know my suffering if I eat that stuff.

Yeah, I actually did buy a bag of those cookies, but just like most GF products out there now they are made with extra salt or sugar or fat, sometimes all three. They WERE tasty, but I knew it was no better ingesting other harmful additives. So funny, these days I drive by every Tim's as fast as I can, have not even loaded DH's card up for him.

Thanks for posting this. I hate when people pay $6 to buy those specially labelled "gluten free" macaroons when they've always been that way! I get that you can have cross contamination but if you buy gluten free because of the paleo diet (and not because of sensitivity) you don't need to pay that much

@Natalka, wonder if the Walnut crunch was discontinued due to allergies?

Funny how things have changed, huh? They can't get enough ingredients in stuff these days. Even the recipes on the web, they all have way too many ingredients in them, they are all food .

That's totally possible, because of the nuts - there are fewer and fewer places which have items with nuts - hard for those of us who do love nuts in or on baking!

I used to work at Tim Horton's and would say the Walnut Crunch is least ordered. I would imagine it's just the way it looks lol. I used to call it the "turd donut" but tried it once and actually loved it! Not my #1 favourite donut but probably in the top 5.

On to the '70s - the sugar twist (YUM!)

Strap on your platform shoes for the disco of donuts: the Sugar Twist. Rolled out and double-twisted into shape, then rolled in sugar, this ‘70s delight had more funky flare than a sequined jumpsuit. It definitely glittered like one, anyway. That’s why we’re thinking of bringing back the Sugar Twist. Can you dig it, Canada?
