    I have been trying to grow and harvest strawberries for the last three years. I have 6 wonderful plants that come up every year and they are not the problem. It's something that is eating them! Could be squirrels, birds or something else? Before the strawberries are ready for harvesting something eats them. I've even built a wooden mesh box that completely surrounds them and something is still able to get in and eat them.

    If it helps I live in Toronto (not sure if this makes a difference). If anyone has any similar problems or advice it would be greatly appreciated!

    are they eating just the fruit, or is it the actual plant they are eating?
