I agree that printers are cheaper than replacing ink. Its really funny to think about. But sadly they only come with started cartridges that dont last very long. Before you know it, you're back here you started.

Okay I read through all of the replies, here is what I think now..
I guess another way of looking at things is I don't have to buy all 4 cartridges at once. If one runs out, than buy that one only and so and so forth. To the person that suggested buying on EBay, what about if they won't work because of the chip? I will have to research this more.
I don't want to buy a new one, I don't have money for that either. Maybe one at a time will do it!

One quick search on google and Voila! I found this on Ebay!
CISS CIS ARC AUTO RESET SMART CHIPS HP 950 XL OfficeJet Pro 8100 8600 plus
Now that is just the cartridges but the ink is cheap too! Less than $50 and you reuse all the time. I think I will go for it when I am 90% out of ink.
I did see in the US that you can subscribe to non stop ink for HP printers but I think it is USA only. I guess I can refill it, but need the cartridges with the chips in them!Insurance Graduate Class of 2014

It's so sad that the market doesn't make reusable an affordable option. It enough to make you sick. Luckily I have an Epson. I bought it on sale for 40 and it can be refilled for 12 bucks which lasts awhile .

There is a $20 - 25 environmental fee here on printers. I don't even bother to fill the color printer or use it... i use my 8 year old laser printer and purchase my toner through 123 ink. My print cost per page is .005 cents per page... cheaper than a copy place! When it comes to 123 ink my parents had trouble with banding on the prints and the color not being true (they have a inkjet printer) The hidden cost of a printer is the ink cost... they basically give them away and make all the money off the ink. If you pay a little more sometimes the ink/ toner is dirt cheap. It is a sneaky way to sell stuff.

Printer ink is one of the biggest ripoffs ever. If you were to fill your car with ink, it would cost 1000x more than gasoline. Crazy eh!

Get a laser printer, my friend. It's a world of difference. Yes the ink is expensive every time, but they last a good year rather than inkjet printers which last a few months max and print 1/4 of the stuff.

I get mine free from Amazon (using my SB) but it still irks me that I have to use my hard earned SB to buy these ruddy things !
I used to go to Island Ink Jet or whatever it's called but had constant problems so decided to go the 'authentic' route.

I have epson printer,
If I buy ink from Walmart it cost me around $60 plus tax,
I bought once,how fool I was.
Now I bought 2 pairs of ink cartridges pack (black +coloured) and 2 extra black ink cartridges for just $15 from eBay.
It's result is amazing no one can tell that it's not genuine.
And from then I always get coloured prints at very very cheap price.
Now I will keep buying from eBay.
