I had a laugh at you telling your story to your 17 month old.lol
I bet being up to date on tetanus is policy for garbage collectors. It's nice to see they're grateful for some concern and kindness and you now have a lifetime of unlimited trash collection.

Love your story of kindness. thanks for sharing.
I also put out cold water bottles or cold pop for the workers in the summer months. Just to say thanks for their hard work.

Have to admit this was not the type of brag I was expecting in a good way of course!

I am sure unlimited garbage collection will come in handy especially after holidays!

Sorry if this is a silly question......here in Windsor, garbage pick up is included in city taxes. Do you pay city taxes AND for garbage pick up? Is it per bag? Do you get an invoice every month??

In my city we get 1 bag each week. If you have more, you have to go and buy some bag tags. They are $2 each and you stick one to the top of each additional bag (after the 1 you're allowed).

In Brampton, the taxes we pay include garbage pickup. Each household is allowed 2 garbage bags per week. Residents must pay for additional bags via tags like bargain hunter Lola mentioned. The cost is $1 but it seems they are only available for $5 per sheet of five $1 tags. If additional garbage bags are missing tags, they won't be picked up( I've witnessed that). It seems that the policy have changed so furniture can now be picked up from the curb on garbage collection day. There are certain times though where there is unlimited collection( around certain holidays) & residents can put out as many bags and whatolsoever they want(within reason of course). As for the green bins ,there is a weight restriction; the bins won't be emptied if it surpasses the weight restriction( I was a victim of this when I was a novice homeowner & hosted my first Christmas dinner). As far as recyclables go, items must be placed in bins bought from the city or in transparent recycling bags. Large boxes should be broken down & tied up if there is a pile, otherwise it can be placed in the bin. They collectors are very particular on my street so if rules aren't followed, pickup will be affected accordingly.
