    Lasik or Cuba?
    20/20 vision or family vacation?
Something for you or something for the family?
    Long-lasting benefit or fun-filled memories?

    I'd choose lasik.

I had lasik in 2005. No regrets ever. I don't miss my prescription glasses/contact lenses at all. It's awesome to see everything clearly. I remember the first time I went swimming after I had my eyes done, it was great. No more blurry beaches.

Thanks everyone for your input!! At this point I have decided to forgo Cuba and get Lasik done when dh has his 2 weeks vacation in December. I'll still be able to save enough to cover all the costs and we can always go to Cuba next winter.

    CUBA ALL THE WAY!
I wear glasses, and that's fine with me.
As i-forget said, the memories with your children will last a life-time!
And the lasik isn't going anywhere either. It'll still be there when you get the money saved up again.
Do the research, get the prices and then know what to save for.
You never know when something will happen and you may never be able to take your children to Cuba
    DO IT NOW!

I would go to Cuba. Spending time with family, to me, is more important. enjoy your family now cause kids grow up so fast and before you know it they are on their own.
I'm very nearsighted (can't see anything in the distance), my prescription is -16(the higher the number the worse your vision) and I have astigmatism. been wearing glasses for about 45 years and haven't even considered getting lasik. I don't mind wearing glasses. in fact my boyfriend thinks it's sexy lol
that was very thoughtful of your husband to suggest laskit though

    +1

I would never voluntarily go for any surgery that was not medically necessary. Glasses don't bother me, and I've got a lot of compliments about them.

Good luck and farsighted means you can see better farther way than you can close up and nearsighted (which I have) means you can see better up close than you can at far distances.

Well done! I absolutely can't fathom choosing a trip to having corrected vision! No contest!
You've already been there! I WISH my vision could. be cured surgically!

There is no substitute for good health over a vacation...it's the old "I want!"over "I need!".

And there are always deals to Cuba to be had, AND you'll be saving that over $400 every few months because you won't be buying contacts.
You'll have the money in no time if you put that money away for a trip. And you'll see Cuba in a 'new light'!

It depends on the size of your myopia. If it's no more than -6 diopters, then I would postpone laser surgery and go for Cuba if I were in your place. If it's more then consult an ophthalmologist (who is NOT engaged in Lasik surgery), and see what he (she) will recommend (in terms of the necessity of Lasik for you). After all, Lasik surgery is a surgery, and if you really don't feel an ultimate necessity then you can have that later (if you do want a surgery).

Unfortunately, I witnessed also not so successful surgeries as well, and I think, if your really don't need that, it's better continue wearing glasses. After all, many great surgeons and millions of wealthy and extremely rich people do continue wearing glasses though they can afford Lasik every day.

My husband had laser eye surgery years ago, before we got married. His sight was deteriorating and he frequently required new glasses. His eye sight is better than 20/20 after the surgery. He didn't have lasic, he had a different kind. I'll have to ask him the name of it again when he is home. He is still very happy that he got the surgery when he was able to afford it.

Lasik so that when you do go back to Cuba you can swim and snorkel contactless free/glasses free.

    do the lasik eye surgery
    Cuba will always be there
    your health is more important
than a one week getaway to Cuba

frugal there is nothing unhealthy about her eyes, she just wears corrective lenses that is all. This is not a must have procedure.
