Hmm...
- how to read an analog clock? Nearly everyone uses a digital clock now.
- how to tie shoe laces? How many use velcro?
- how to tie a neck tie? How many are going tieless or using a clip-on?
- how to type?
- how to be polite?
- rules of the road when driving?
- how to flush the toilet? A problem at some of the public facilities I go to.

You need to know that
- the phones don't work in a power outage, get an old fashioned phone for your land line
- convert metric to imperial (this comes in handy a lot when using tools)
- how to drive standard (which I do not)
- mental math - enough said
- hats off inside
- give up your seat on the bus/metro (elderly, preggos or just be polite and give it up to anyone)
- gentlemen should walk to a woman's left

Patty. I did not know the last one. But funny he always does and that feels the most comfortable for me for hand holding . What is the reason for the left side?

I'm curious also.
DH always has to be on the outside (closest to the street) and I've always thought its weird but he says its gentlemanly.
Hmmm, things everyone should know:
-basic math (especially how to make change)
-how to leave a proper voicemail message (mostly applicable to professional calls)
-how to swim

While great wisdom for children and adults... it's sad when seniors loose these skills for various diseases and age.

Put your cell phone away (as in not reading or sending texts) when you are with other people. I can't believe how many people do this!! Pretty tough to converse with the people in front of you when your texting someone else.
It really annoys me when I see this. In fact there was even a study I read that showed many parents do this when alone with their child. Precious time time to be connecting, listening, teaching, playing. So sad.

From days of yore, man escorts woman on his left arm so his sword arm (right) would be free should there be a threat, so he'd have access to his blade worn on his left side.
My husband also walks at the curb when we are together.
