So true, Chives.....something that really hits Russia's pocket book, as well as the upper class who have hands as dirty as putin does! Closing bank accounts in the various countries where their money is hidden would be one step!

Like you, I was also hoping the incident was swift, and no one was terrorized by what was happening to them...God bless them all, and bless the investigators...

Monitors only allowed in for about an hour.
It's just a mess there, separatists/militants (don't know what to call them any more....) not allowing the right people in to secure the scene - suggestions that they have looted, moved bodies, etc.

    Conspiracy theories....sigh!

Conspiracy theories have always followed in the shadows of major tragedies, but the web seems to make all that detective work so much easier. You have forums like Reddit’s /r/conspiracy. Unabashedly unhinged “news” sites, like Infowars and Before Its News. And Friday morning, less than 24 hours after MH17 went down in Eastern Ukraine, all of them were frothing with alternative explanations for the crash.
Needless to say, these explanations rarely make any sense; conspiracy theories, particularly the viral Internet variety, are generally a cobbled patchwork of paranoia, wild speculation and overconfident amateur “sleuthing.” (Think the photos that circled Reddit after the Boston Marathon bombings, with their color-coded circles and cherry-picked “smoking guns.”) That said, it would be foolish to dismiss these theories out of hand, if only because so many people believe them. Research has indicated not only that conspiracy theories are a response to powerlessness, but that perfectly logical and otherwise normal people frequently buy in — as many as half of American adults, according to a recent study from the University of Chicago.

Russia supplied missile launchers to separatists, U.S. official says

KIEV, Ukraine — The United States has confirmed that Russia supplied sophisticated missile launchers to separatists in eastern Ukraine and that attempts were made to move them back across the Russian border after the Thursday shoot-down of a Malaysian jet liner, a U.S. official said Saturday.

“We do believe they were trying to move back into Russia at least three Buk [missile launch] systems,” the official said. U.S. intelligence was “starting to get indications . . . a little more than a week ago” that the Russian launchers had been moved into Ukraine, said the official.

Vitaly Nayda, counterintelligence chief of Ukraine’s security service, offered photographs and said Ukraine has evidence of the movement of three Buk M-1 antiaircraft missile systems from rebel-held territory into Russian territory early Friday, less than 12 hours after the plane was downed. Ukrainian officials have said that a missile from a Buk M-1 launcher was used to shoot down the aircraft.

1.49 Roland Oliphant (The Telegraph) reports: At least some of the bodies appear to have been loaded on to a refrigerate train in the town of Torez, but it is still unclear where their final destination may be.

Five grey wagons - four refrigerated carriages and one generator and guards van - have been hooked up to a Soviet era diesel locomotive at Torez station.

    -

15:09 Twenty-seven more bodies have been found along with 20 fragments of bodies at the site, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman has said.
He told a news conference that the bodies of 192 of the 298 people killed when the plane plunged into the steppe in eastern Ukraine on Thursday had been placed in refrigerated train wagons before being sent home for burial.

While this whole tragedy is terrible, the U.S. better watch it's mouth about who is supplying weapons to whom.

Let's not forget the U.S. has supplied weapons to the wrong side MANY times throughout history.

great point patty, not hard to define the wrong side at the moment.
release the bodies, is what everyone wants - and why not?
way too much politics from people who are likely mercenaries and support them

Poroshenko asks Russia to join in investigation of Boeing accident

During his visit to the Embassy of Malaysia in Kyiv on Monday, the President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko gave instructions to invite Russian experts to the investigation of the Malaysian Airlines crash in the Donetsk Region. (Interfax-Ukraine).

“In the very first minutes of the tragedy, I, as President of Ukraine, invited representatives of concerned countries – first of all, representatives of the Netherlands, Malaysia, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States, and also gave instructions to invite a Russian representative so that everything could be carried out as transparently as possible.” said Poroshenko.

Poroshenko added that international experts still do not have access to the crash site.

“Many representatives have been waiting patiently for 96 hours; they are still until able to get to the scene of the tragedy and begin an objective and impartial investigation.” stated the President.

It was reported earlier that Poroshenko had instructed to cease hostilities within a radius of 40 km around the crash site.

Pro-Russian separatists continue to obstruct search and rescue operations in areas under their control.

MH17 victim's family condemn Sky News reporter for "rifling through dead passengers's possessions"

The family of a flight MH17 crash victim has condemned Sky News reporter Colin Brazier who was filmed live on air rifling through victims’ possessions – branding the footage 'sick.'
In a live broadcast, which has so far sparked 110 Ofcom complaints, the presenter was shown picking items – including a set of keys and a toothbrush – out of the open luggage before saying: ‘We really shouldn’t be doing this, I suppose.’
Speaking from the family home in Leicester, Richard Mayne’s older brother Thomas, 24, branded it 'sick' adding: 'I think it's totally out of order. It's not on.'
This evening Prime Minister David Cameron also condemned the reporter's actions branding it 'completely inappropriate'.

The Leeds University student was one of ten Britons to die when the Malaysia Airlines jet crashed in Ukraine on Thursday.
