So far, 240 Palestinians killed, 1 Israeli.
This does not include the number of Plalestinians who may be killed in the present, incessant shelling of Gaza.

To fix title, go to edit thread, then to go advanced...
Hamas wouldn't agree to a ceasefire - terrorists don't like giving up, I suppose.
I figured ground forces would have to be involved. In this case, they have to get at the tunnels.

Yep....all true, but imdiscrimately firing rockets into Gaza can't be the only solution, can it? Did Isreal think Hamas was taking a summer break and sunning themselves on the beach where those innocent children were killed?
There has got to be a better solution...for both sides. But not, of course, until there are very many more deaths.
As far as not being able to get at the tunnels from the air.....that didn't seem to be a problem when Isreal news showed one of their rockets or missiles blowing up the end of a tunnel as Hamas soldiers were exiting.Last edited by Lynn49; Fri, Jul 18th, 2014 at 03:36 PM.

Unfortunately you can't say anything against Israel without being labelled and anti-semite so I will pass on this.

Israeli air strike on UN shelter results in multiple deaths, in spite of the fact that the shelter's coordinates we're sent to Israeli forces. A request to evacuate also ignored. The story is just breaking...

The death toll has reached over 1000. This is not a war. This is a massacre, and Israel is perpetrating it. And, Patty, I have no problem being labeled an anti-Semite if someone is ignorant enough to do so. Opposing a State that is occupying another and opposing their assault on innocence does not make one an anti Semite. It makes them human.
Aren't you guys glad I'm back?
** Though I should note one important thing. With what I'm dealing with right now I've made the decision to opt out of political debate and/or discussion as it's way too stress inducing for me. So please don't take my above comment as a usually welcomed debate starter. I simply wanted to voice my opinion on this, especially pattys comment because I think it's very important that labels not be tossed around when they truly don't apply. That whole crying wolf syndrome does nothing for anyone. I should probably just avoid the news section altogether. lolLast edited by TaraF; Sun, Jul 27th, 2014 at 09:05 AM.

Couldn't have said it better myself, Tara! And like you, I rarely visit the news site for that exact reason, also....too much drama. But in this case I couldn't ignore the massacre, as you called it.
I saw a documentary a year or so ago on the food shipments from Israel to Gaza and how the Palestinians were made to wait for hours for the transfer to take place....the foods, eggs, we're rotting in the heat! It looked like a "Mexican stand-off"! It disgusted me. If I can find a reference to it, I'll post it...but it doesn't take much searching to understand the inhumane conditions the inhabitants of Gaza have had to endure.
Call me whatever you like.Last edited by Lynn49; Sun, Jul 27th, 2014 at 09:57 AM.

Israel withdrew from Gaza 10 years ago. How are they occupying Gaza?
