I would still be thrilled...enjoy your buns as I am sure they taste so much better free. I love SCOP's.

hey and you know right after I got my $2.50 back the cashier reported it to a supervisor who then ran to check, maybe they were finally going to make the changes on the registers so they could stop handing out free buns all day! hee hee

Probably only to SCer's only as so many people don't know about SCOP's.

What wording does the free coupon usually have that gives the cashier the ok to add on tax to to the total? Or is it that all FPCs automatically include tax?

I find it hit an miss as to whether a place adds in the cost of tax (esp for pop/junk food products)...except at SDM which uses that special coupon code. Why couldn't other systems work the same and have it automatic....? Just seems to put an extra demand on the cashier to make a calculation like ilovecats was saying

    thanks for sharing the story

I thought in RCSS, they didn't deduct the tax on free stuff, they just deduct the tag price, so I was always charged tax on fpc

I had such a horrible shopping experience on Friday at Walmart that I decided to call head office as this is what happened.

    1. Price matching problems as cashier wanted to go just by pictures and not by wording also.
    2. Tax not taken off on free products coupons by either cashier or manager as they didn't know how.
    3. Second manager called didn't even bother showing up to the till.
    4. Cashier on the next till busy rolling her eyeballs at us.
    5. Customer service didn't know the correct tax rate to be able to refund the taxes as apparently there is only one tax for cat food because there is a J on the receipt.
    6. Had to buy a $1.00 bag of candy to prove to her the tax rate on J products is 13%. I wanted to return the candy after that point was proven but couldn't because she said she gave me the receipt which she hadn't. I had to tell her to check her other hand as that was where the receipt was. Candy was refunded.
    7. Refund given in cash rather than on credit card.
    8. 45 minutes later DH and I finally were able to leave the store.

I received a phone call from a manager at the Walmart I was shopping at, explained the whole story again, was told I will be receiving a $100.00 GC for all the problems we went through and I was just hoping to have the cashiers learn how to remove the tax on free items. She apologized profusely and let me know that this will not happen again. Hopefully, there will be some retraining going on.

Also passed on this to me: Walmart flyers will soon starting on Thursday rather than Friday.

Two things about this that made my day: "6. Had to buy a $1.00 bag of candy to prove to her the tax rate on J products is 13%. I wanted to return the candy after that point was proven but couldn't because she said she gave me the receipt which she hadn't. I had to tell her to check her other hand as that was where the receipt was. Candy was refunded." I'm still LMAO at that.

And...the $100 WM gift card: WTG!!!! Good for you!!!

That doesn't sound like a fun shopping experience. I am glad that H/O took steps to make amends and hope that the store gets their retraining soon.

Some FPC's have the wording "taxes included if applicable" but you should not be paying taxes on items anyways that you are using FPC's for anyways.

Thank you for the explaination, the RCSS I always went was not very friendly, most of them don't show friendly face to people who uses coupon, I just didn't want to argue with them because I still need to go there every 2-3 days since its the nearest grocery store and lower price

I did a online survey about shopping experience at that store two weeks ago, I have pointed out some problems of the store, and the survey told me the store manager may call me about these problems within 5 business days, but I didn't get any call from them. I thought the store manager dosen't care what people think. they have good range of variety of products, so people still go there even they are not friendly and products are not well organized.

DH and I picked up my GC yesterday. We used it to buy some odds and end that we needed for our new house. I have a whopping $6.92 left.
