Thank you everyone for your kind words. I haven't been reading much of this thread (still haven't) because it's still hurting too much to read, and it hurts in different ways every day. When I feel better I will be back to thank each of you individually, but for now I will just thank everyone collectively for your thoughts and support. I'm just trying not to start crying because I need to make it through 5 hours of work tonight and I don't know how I'm going to do with that.

Chantel...All that I can say is that I understand how you feel. Time will help, but nothing will change how you feel about Jack. Don't rush out and get another cat. Take your time and let all the feeling process. Some day you may want another one, but don't rush things. Take care and hugs to you.

Chantel, I was about your age when my cat was hit by a car and I did get a new kitten almost right away. Nothing could replace the cat that I lost, but the pain that I was feeling was unbearable and for me it helped to have a little one that needed me to look after him. Tweets gave you good advice, but I'm telling you this because different people need to grieve in different ways and whatever you need to do is OK.
There are lots of people on this site who understand what it's like to lose a pet. If it helps you to come back and talk about Jack, please feel free to do so. If it hurts too much, that's OK too. Just know that we're thinking of you.
