Went for a walk with DH and found a little book exchange that had been constructed by the grade 3 class in our neighbourhood( cute idea)-so grabbed a book and will add one on my next walk. Also grabbed a handful of crab apples off my friends tree as last year she said help yourself and she wasn't home today.I should pop her an email and ask her if I can take more if she is not going to use them.

    Hello September....
The kids start to go back to school tomorrow, and by the end of the week everyone will be back.
Lots to be grateful for....DD had a health scare earlier this summer...and could have been facing an up hill battle, so the fact that she is healthy and is able to continue school tomorrow, makes me soooooo happy and thankful.
Finishing up laundry today...not that it's ever finish...
Making BBQ chicken for dinner, then hope to have a early night as I'll have an early start tomorrow with back to school starting.
Have a great day all, enjoy this last day of long weekend for the summer.

A friend of ours forgot that today was a stat and showed up at work this morning. We live 1 block away from his work, so he stopped by and we all went out for breakfast. LO and I played hockey on the driveway for about 1/2hr. My garden is still producing some peas, so he had some of those at lunch today. LO's down for his nap right now. I spent over an hour weeding a stretch of lawn next to our house, it doesn't get much sun there. Some of it has way more weeds than grass. I think I discovered a particular type of weed (don't know its name) that the cutworms like, I kept finding cutworms with their roots. Three 5 gallon buckets of weeds later and about 8 cutworms. I stopped, was getting tired and starting to hurt. Going to get LO up soon, give him a snack and head to the swimming pool. We haven't gone to the big swimming pool since the spring. Our same friend is planning on joining us. Well, that's all I have gotten done so far today. Hope everyone else is enjoying the stat.

I`m so pi$$ed off. We had lots of apples...sent some home with a friend, my BIL and my sister. Was talking to her yesterday and she said she threw all of them away. They were wormy. So hubby went to make applesauce this morning and found the same thing. They look perfect on the outside but the inside is all brown. He always sprays the trees but it seemed every time they were sprayed this summer it rained a couple days later. They will all end up in the composter. Haven`t checked the Courtland tree yet...hope they are ok.

That is a real drag CC. We spent a couple of hours and rounded up some food from our pantry and some $ for a single Mum in need who was waiting for her EI and had no food for school lunches or money for shoes for school for her 3 kids tomorrow. In my opinion the need was genuine and it is nice to occasionally help out others that you feel are in need.

Lizzie: it's nice to be able to help those in our circle. I have a few friends that we help out and the one family has a Food allergy in the house so I laugh when ever Logan asks for an extra home made treat as I know he is slipping it to his bestie (sister needs a GF diet) at school. September is so expensive for parents, by the time you are done the hot lunch, the milk, the back to school BBQ and all the school supplies there is just an empty budget.
We had a great last day of summer, went to a local lake and then stop for ice cream. The kids were not hungry at dinner so we have leftovers to make the 1 st day of school easier. Only one needs lunch Tuesday and it is done. Off for my walk now.
Friends don't let real friends pay full price.
