    Hello there fellow SCers!
My young cousin is having her first baby early november and the shower is a few weeks. I have a ton of gifts for the baby already but I was thinking of getting her a special nursing top from Thyme. I know I would have loved to have had one when I was nursing. My question to you guys is do you think this is too personal or weird of a gift. I know she plans on nursing but that doesnt always work out for everyone so there is the chance she may not even use it. She honestly buys very little for herself, I see her wearing the same things over and over and I thought it might be a nice treat for her. I would enclose a gift receipt in case she doesnt like the color or style but I dont want to just give her a gift card because I think she would use it for a gift for someone else. Like I said she is always thinking of others and hardly ever buys for herself. This is a pic of the top I was thinking of, very basic and really could be worn with anything-what do you guys think, is it too personal? Please be honest, I can take it-LOL!

I think it's fine! Especially since you know she intends to breastfeed.

I love it. I would have appreciated this when I nursed. Very cute design.

Personally, I think it's a thoughtful gift given that you know she plans to breast feed.

If, for example, you knew a mother was going to bottle feed, you wouldn't hesitate to buy her a bottle warmer or bottles or formula as a shower gift. This is the same thing. What makes it seem "weird" is that we're talking boobies. And people get uncomfortable and squeamish when you talk boobies. LOL. Just mentioning them makes us blush and turn away like a bunch of grade 5 boys. LOL.

I would buy the gift, myself, but be sure to include the gift receipt so if it's not her style or size or colour or breastfeeding doesn't work out, she can take it back for something that will work better for her.

It's a shirt, after all so it's not like you're buying bras or underwear. That might be reason to feel awkward if it was panties. ("hey...I got you some sexy black lace crotchless undies. Enjoy!") But this is a shirt. Big difference.

Personally..I like it. and both colours, and it doesn't look like a nursing top.

It also makes a change from all the pressies being for baby. Mommy needs her treats too at this time..

For me, it's nothing personal as long as you have no intention to insult her and as I see in the picture, the top is nice. Perfect for her when she's nursing her baby..

I agree, its very pretty and you are clearly thinking of her. If she is not one to splurge for herself something new and sharp like this would be a nice treat. They are far prettier than when I had my 1st 14 yrs ago.

I would go for it. It's a lovely gift. I had a friend who received nipple cream in a gift basket and said it was one of the most practical gifts!

UPDATE-I went to Thyme today and bought her the top PLUS they had an amazing deal on nursing pyjamas, a set of pants, a top and a hooded coverlet for $24 so I bought both the top and the pjs. I looked through the store and they have lots of great practical clothes that she could exchange for if she doesnt like what I picked to so that sealed the deal. Thanks for all you advice guys!
This is a similar set to what they had on sale-the one I bought was pink and blue with a hooded cover/house sweater piece.

Thats so considerate of you! I never bought stuff like this for myself when I was expecting because I always felt like it was a waste of money, so I would have really appreciated someone getting me that.
