Worst sound in the world? For me, to name a few would be squealing brakes followed by the sound of a collision, dentist's drill, squeaky door and neighbour's arguing.

ooh... dentist drill (just the thought of it is giving me goosebumps).
A close second would be my 8 y/o DS, going Mom, mom, mom endlessly in the back seat of my car and tearfully begging for yet another video game. I could do without that on EVERY TRIP we take to Walmart, thank you very much! The average dog
is nicer
than the average person.

The worst sound would have to be someone grinding their teeth. It goes right through me.

My dane has a 'indestructible' rubber bone that when she chews sounds like someone is rubbing a wet balloon. She loves it, but man I cringe every time.

I'd have to say, an animal in distress. No matter what type of animal, they all have that terrified pitch in there voice, not only does it drive me right around the bend, but it tears my heart out. Especially if it's coming from somewhere outside that I can't get to.
We all need a little sunshine every now and then
