Thread: Goody bags for kids birthday party
-

My DD is turning 4 and I'm trying to get an idea for goody bags. Mostly all of her cousins coming are between 3-4 years old. I want to stay away from junk from the dollar store just for my own personal beliefs and opinions. I found games today at Walmart ( made in USA, says good for ages 3+ ) and they are priced at $5. I figure it's something they actually use rather than the parents throwing it out or whatever.
would love to hear what you guys did for birthday parties or any ideas you have. ThanksThis thread is currently associated with: Walmart

Board games are a great idea! We did that for DD's Candyland birthday (they were $7.77 at TRU -$5 coupon that was out at the time).
We usually stick to 1-2 bigger items depending on the theme. Like you I also hate buying "junk" that will most likely be tossed out. Some of the things we've done are:
-Wooden Train whistle with conductor hat
-Pirate bandana with eye patch and temporary tattoos
-Books
-Bucket with Sand Toys
Other ideas I've seen are:
-Socks
-Hair accessories
-Colouring books with crayons
-Bubbles
-Bath toys
I'm sure whatever you decide will be great! Happy birthday to your little one.

for my daughters goodie bags I buy mostly consumable/useable stuff always crayons, bubbles, a fruit snack, pens, lip balms (hey I'm a couponer afterall! ) stickers, pencils (this year writing little fun things on them like "you rock!" )and things I have found a great deal on.. This year skipping ropes, I've done little wands, giant pens, my little ponys, note pads... I love me some 70% off target clearance

Stickers-round ones and if they are shiny, even better-card stores used to have some for sale! Candy (Halloween snack size gives you lots of options now).Fabricland might have small retractable measuring tapes for a song at the cash area. Also see if there are themed patches that might interest the kids. Since Halloween is coming, reflective tape by the metre will be on sale-maybe make wristbands with self-fastening tape (use small squares like what you see on umbrella closures-there maybe a package of precut squares) so kids can use them on Oct. 31?
If you feel crafty, you can buy a fabric print you like to make little loot sacks for the party. Or finger puppets?2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.

It helps to have a theme too. One year we had pirate theme and the loot bag was a treasure box they decorated and they dug small toys out of the sand box, and chocolate coins.
I've also taken ds to an OHL game with friends and instead of loot bag I got each one a foam team finger from the gift shop.
You could do a craft at the party or find kits to take home. School safe snacks are a great alternative to candy.
whatever you choose it will be great. I like to include the child in the process (shopping or packing bags) to have them understand that these are "thank you" presents for the friends/family coming over.Last edited by couponkrystal; Mon, Oct 13th, 2014 at 06:56 PM.

This year ours were 24pk of Crayola pencil crayons (purchased during back to school for $1.25) and a big bottle of bubbles (purchased on clearance at SDM for $0.74). Along with 1 lollipop and I splurged on those blow out thingies that went along with our theme. I hate dollar store stuff (and not really having one makes it way easier).
I usually stock up during back to school on crayons, pencils, markers, ect.... for loot bags.

My son's 6th birthday is in March, and it will be the first party where he's inviting friends and classmates. He's wanting a Transformer theme, so I'll really be watching Target for some clearance Transformers. I still have some ConstructBot sets in my gift cupboard from last year. People spend a lot on junky party favours -- I'd rather spend the same amount on something that the little boys will be thrilled to find in their loot bags.

One year we gave each girl a hula hoop as a party favour-another year a Chinese fan.
