If the $250 annual fee and charging $5000 in purchases in the first 3 months is a little steep for your spending habits, try the American Express Gold Reward card (for individuals not for businesses).

You need to charge $500 in purchases to your card in the first 3 months of card membership and will get 25,000 points (enough for a round trip flight almost anywhere in North America)plus you pay no annual fee for the first year.
