I had a whole post typed about how alien this whole concept is to me, since I was always taught to be strong and true to my convictions and to ignore the idiots in the world whose existence is so empty and shallow that their only solace is to harm others. I'll leave it at that since I do not wish for my words to cause anyone to be upset.

#Ghomeshi surrendered to police today. He is scheduled to appear in court this afternoon.

He turned himself in to police Wednesday morning, according to a Toronto Police press release.


Ghomeshi has been charged with four counts of sexual assault and one count of “overcome resistance – choking.”

Glad he's been charged. We'll have to wait to see what happens. If it goes to trial, he may have to go judge alone. He's been tried by the public already and I feel like they'd be hard pressed to find someone who doesn't have a formed opinion. Wouldn't be surprised if he pleaded out.

Ghomeshi was granted bail set at $100, 000 and now he is restricted to living with his mother and must stay in Canada.

Ghomeshi's lawyer, Marie Henein, told the gathered reporters that her client would be pleading not guilty and there would be no further statements to the media. "We will defend and respond to these allegations fully and directly in a court of law," she said.

Henein requested a publication ban on the bail hearing, which was granted, meaning the allegations and evidence presented during the proceedings cannot be reported.

His bail conditions include living with his mother — who was present in court and acted as his surety — no contact with his alleged victims and an agreement to surrender his passport and remain in Ontario.

Ghomeshi's next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 8.

well I say he's got big ones for pleading not guilty. I hope to hear nothing more about him in the media until his court case is done, but I'd LOVE to be the fly on the wall at breakfast with him and his Mom.

I just feel SO badly for his mom - her husband died in October, and she's had to deal with all of this crap about her son.

I do feel badly that she is now a widow however I am just wondering what kind of relationship they had growing up for him to have chosen to act out on women this way in his adult life??

you just never know what goes one behind closed doors.

i'm just glad he's still in the country and is doing the right thing now to face the consequences.
