I live in Ontario and have been hit up at the door a few times about my renewal
I am not sure what my options are other than what he said sign up for another 5 years or most likely get stuck at one year higher rate. My renewal is not until April.
So my question is
Do I renew now while I can it seems like a good deal 6% savings or wait and see what else I get offered?
Have you been visited for your renewal?
What are you paying now? What province are you in?This thread is currently associated with: N/ALast edited by Anna Michele; Sat, Jan 3rd, 2015 at 07:03 PM.

I'll have to see if I can find the rate from Union Gas. Brother got Dad to sign non-renewal papers with company and switch back to Union Gas-this was done a month or two prior to contract end date-last year, company auto-renewed contract one year as Dad did not response to renewal packages.
I should check the OEB site for any rate changes-every three months and am hoping there's a drop because of the lower oil barrel prices. Equal billing plan is about $125/mo, better than it was during Jan-April/14. Would like to see $100 or lower, truthfully but it's been cold and gray during a good portion of Dec.2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.

ok so i went onto the OEB website and found this
for contract less than or up to one year
Electricity contracts must state the price the consumer will pay if the contract is renewed and also, the price the consumer would pay if they purchased from the utility. The contract cannot be renewed or extended unless the consumer provides express consent that he has read this price comparison. For this reason electricity contracts cannot be automatically renewed.
for contracts ore than one year
Electricity contract renewals or extensions for more than one year, up to five years, are subject to additional special requirements. Specifically, the renewal or extension notice must state the price you will pay if the contract is renewed or extended, and the price you would pay if you purchased electricity from your utility. The contract cannot be renewed or extended unless the retailer receives your express consent that you have read this price-comparison information.JOIN NOW WIN BIG in the Survivor Pool starting in the Spring

from the OEB website
You have options. Your energy can be supplied by…
(a) Your utility (prices set by the OEB – can be two-tiered or according to Time-of-Use), OR
(b) An electricity retailer / natural gas marketer (these organizations are independent agents – not part of your utility or the government).
It’s a competitive marketplace so take time to understand your options. Also, know who supplies your electricity or natural gas as well as how much you consume every month.

Hydro One's smart meter consumers have the same rates as shown for Horizon's consumers. Miss the first 750 kwh at one rate offer-not offered for some years now.Last edited by Ciel; Wed, Dec 31st, 2014 at 11:31 AM.
