I'm thinking about taking up crocheting and was wondering if any of you would have some advice for a newbie. I have a case of crochet hooks because I did try some crocheting about 30 years ago . What would be a good first project and what type of wool and what would be a good instruction book. Thanks for any help you can offer!

A good project to learn on is a dishcloth. You need a cotton yarn and there are lots of dishcloth pattern books or free patterns on the internet.

Thanks so much - I'll check into this. I'm also thinking of requesting some books from the library....

Ugh....lol...I tried crocheting, but stuck with knitting....I guess I needed someone
right there beside me to know which stitch to stick my hook into next! I'd get all
muddled up....Crochetlady is on here, if you look her up, I"m sure she'd be happy
    to help you.

ps...go on youtube and do a search for crochet basics...I've learned so much on
there for projects I've taken on!

Forgot to mention...Mikey from the Crochet Crowd does awesome tutorials. I find him really easy to follow.
