Thread: No harm in trying

I was taught by my great aunt how to bargain shop about 40 years ago and I think it just comes naturally without trying. Some things are obsolete like licking stamps and others are new such as the electronic cards and internet printing so there is always something to learn.
So today I ended up with a money maker shopping trip for myself.
Lysol 15.99 full price - $17.90 rebate plus 10x
Colgate tooth brush $6.49 - SDM pay $0.99 + $2.00 coupon I didn't know if this would work but I gave it a try
2 VIM $3.76 - $1.50 SDM + 2x $1.00
Pot of Gold $3.99 - 2800 bp
So with all the other items with coupons on a 20x day it was $54.47 OOP but I also got 2 free haircut coupons (surprise promo) 17.90 rebate, 15950 SDM points and used $9 coupons on basic groceries.
I use my SDM points to buy my groceries and luxury items for my children. I also support a community outreach centre with my freebie finds.
I share expenses with a gamer who is willing to allow me to do his shopping in exchange for those higher dollar amounts. He enjoys those electronic freebies but can get really frustrated when shopping with me.
I know it sounds weird but ever since I started thinking about what I can do for others it turns out in my favour. So think about all the great deals you are passing up because its not an item that you can use. Ask other people if they are interested in teaming up for those bonus points or case deals. This thread is currently associated with: Pharmaprix, Shoppers Drug Mart

You know what...... you made a really good point to team up with someone to share a big shop with. That's exactly what i wish when i spot a killer deal @sdm but i don't need it for some reason.
Good for you and your friend to share these shops. A Win-win situation!
Btw what's that free hair cut coupon? Not that i need a haircut but just curious...... never heard or seen this type of coupon..i think....

Nice work. I like your idea. It makes me cringe when I watch others paying full price. Some people can't be bothered with all of this. Quite frankly I think it's because they think I'm saving a buck or two. They don't realize that it's hundreds that I save. This teaming up is genius!
