I'm not a drinker or smoker, so I don't have the big habits. The only thing I've given up is drinking pop. It's been about 7 or 8 years now.

No, never did it with someone else.

Quit biting my nails - it was really hard since I had done it since childhood.
However, once I knew there was going to be an engagement ring on my finger, I quit biting the nails right then and there.

After watching my aunt die from lung cancer in 2003, i decided to quit smoking. It took 3 months but I did it. My BF has finally quit too, it has been 8 month.

I quit a few hard bad habits to quit many years ago and was sucessesful wich made my life easyer. BUT, a BIG BUT, smoking is the one that I have such a hard time. My son really wants me to quit and said we will both stop wich we did. I started 7 months after and now kiking myself for it to. I KNOW, I KNOW I shouldn't BUT again that BIG BUT, I DID. So now, (cross fingers and really hope we will be sucessful) we will set another date and start over again. Crazy, I know, to go trought those cravings and those first crazy weeks.

Well, congratulations to the one that did quit some bad habits and good luck to the one that have to quits some bad habits like me. Thank you Danger Dan for another interesting quote..................................

Nail biting, off and on all my life, right now they are growing

Smoking - 26 years in April

Losing weight - well if only food was not involved that one may work someday

Swearing - when my kids were young it was easy now , not so much

Drinking pop and coffee - done more than 5 years for pop and 3 for coffee

My bad habit was eating those kraft cheese slices (individual ones wrapped in plastic). I kicked that habit by not buying them anymore. So far so good! A long time ago a family member and I agreed to exercise and drop a few pounds. Turns out she was acting like a dofus- rubbing it in my face how she lost 2 more pounds than me. Actng insensitive and rude. I was happy for her- the progress she made and it didn't bother me she shed those few extra pounds. No more pacts with her. *rolls eyes*

I wanted my whole family to embrace the healthiest eating possible as a group effort. So I rid the home of all snacky, creamy, sugary, salty, tasty processed temptations and that worked for a while..... pounds were lost, high horses were climbed upon.....sigh. Now I alone am back at square one but this time I am only asking myself to change, they can follow or not, their choice.

is this Ur husband and sons not following a healthy eating regiment? IF so, this is yet another reason why males have a higher mortality rate.

well DH and one son yes, they eat whatever they please ( at times ) BUT will eat healthy IF I have something cooked and ready to heat up......so that is why my kitchen sabbatical is in full swing here. So far so good. I have not cooked since??? I forget.
