Scrubs in the City Fundraiser to Benefit SickKidsToronto philanthropists will “jet set” to Japan to raise funds for SickKids This Spring, Toronto will experience a neon-soaked night filled with sights, surprises and all things Tokyo at this year’s Scrubs in the City event to benefit of The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). On Thursday, June 4, we will transform the Evergreen Brick Works with food, fashion and entertainment plucked from the nightlife of Shibuya. To-date, the annual event has raised more than $3 million in support of some of the most critical needs at the hospital. SickKids is Canada’s leading centre dedicated to improving children’s health and home to Canada’s largest, hospital-based child health research institute. SickKids cares for more than 100,000 patients every year. Proceeds from Scrubs will help fund the purchase of a new 3T-MRI machine, one of the highest priority needs at the Hospital. Our current MRI machine has done wonders for patient diagnosis and research, but it lacks many of the advances that have been made over the last 10 years, which the new machine has in spades. It’s like using an old cell phone, it makes calls, but it’s features are lacking – no texting, no email, no FaceTime. The new machine would help us do things like screen babies while still in utero and much more. Helping the hospital with new technology at a night themed where technology is born – Tokyo.
