    I used to work as a cashier at SDM, and we were instructed to apply SCOP only if the customer specifically mentions the scanning code. Otherwise, we were only supposed to adjust the price. I've only had "it's supposed to be free" remarks from customers when I had a hard time scanning the item, or if it (oddly) wasn't in the system.

    Walmart was a good place for me regarding the SCOP. We got an iPad last year for my MIL and it rang up at regular price even though it was on sale. The supervisor had to come in and adjust, but automatically gave us $10 off. He even explained the SCOP to the electronics cashier.
