madchives hasn't this story confused many of us? I know the comedians are having a great time with it, ( Larry Wilmore The Nightly Show did a funny segment on her ) but I keep asking myself wasn't she helping the Black Community in all of their struggles? I think her heart was in the right place but she attempted to do her part in a very disturbing way. I don't feel she is a bad person, she certainly does not come off as threatening to me, but maybe when all the facts are out about her own home life and upbringing some details may show there was great pain in her childhood ( I'll bet on that )

I've heard some " facts " on the news that do paint her with a very unflattering brush, but I say give this more time, I'm sure more facts will surface and she will not be as vilified.

if you saw any of the cnn coverage of this, they had some sort of specialists on,
including a doctor who put this woman in the same category as a person who needs
to change their sex gender (caitlin jenner).

i have not heard the term, transracial,,,before
good bloody hell, as is what the heck? but that term is now being used for this.

and yes her feelings may come for trying to help, but saw she does not talk with
her family or her adopted siblings,,
so thinking rachel is having a personal problem, granted has been for
10 years from what i've seen, sad

the story I first read was about was her brother finally being charged with sexually assaulting a minor and she was representing and helping the minor in question in court?? Well that tells me there are some skeletons in the closets for sure. Now remind me...is CNN as bad as Fox? I know Jon Stewart has shamed Fox for so many years on their biased and innacurate news stories, but I forget now if CNN is lumped in with that?

Hmmm, I also saw her wedding pic, she married a black man ( I think they are no longer married ) and her parents adopted 4 black children, so in and of itself one can ask did those factors ( again , not sure how old she was or IF she was even still in the home when they were adopted?? ) play any role in her wanting to blend herself into an ethnicity that was so opposite from what she actually was?

I also heard her comments about stepping down and as I said I think she meant no harm, she was only doing what is best for the cause that she seems to believe in ( justice and human rights ) There are waaaay worse human beings on the planet doing terrible things, the news and media should shift their focus for bad publicity to them maybe.

She hired an black ACTOR to pretend to be her father, then claimed he couldn't make it to her big day because he was fighting CANCER!

This woman doesn't care who the heck she hurts, who she lies to! It's all about what she wants to be...white or black depending on her state of confused mind!

Okay, she did some good things for the black community...so have dozens of white people!!! Was white not good enough for her?!

Dolezal identifies as bisexual. She is divorced from Kevin Moore, an African-American man who was a medical student at Howard University. They married in May 2000 and divorced in 2004. Moore has accused his ex-wife of lying and "poisoning" his relationship with their son Franklin. In 2010, with the consent of her parents, she obtained legal guardianship of her adoptive black brother Izaiah Dolezal, who was then 16 years old. Her other black adoptive brother Ezra Dolezal, who has acknowledged he is estranged from his sister, accused Dolezal of having "brainwashed" Izaiah into "hating white people."

She lists African dance, culinary arts, ethnic hair styling, and modeling among her other experiences.According to a February 2015 article in The Easterner, Dolezal said she had suffered from cervical cancer in 2006, but had recovered by 2008.

I think her parents did the right thing. It must have been difficult for them.

BUT I still feel there is something that happened to her in her own home ( yes her own white home ) that the parents have not divulged. She has been at the NAACP for the last 10 years so why have her parents or that estranged adopted brother of hers that has lots to say now not exposed her supposed masking of her ethnicity until now?

I say they exposed her at this time because of other delicate family issues ( I did read about another brother being charged with sexual assault on a minor? so not sure if that is why this all blew up when it did )

Any of her white relatives could have called the NAACP anonymously and reported she had white birth parents, mailed them proof with pics. Now there is talk of a DNA test needing to be done to end this. She was apparently born at home, and Rachel feels that perhaps these are not her real parents, a test could prove that if she submits to it.

I had heard that she sued the Univ. because she was denied admissions because she was a pregnant single white female and they had told her " others " were more in need of financial assistance than her, and that she MUST have some rich white relatives that she could go to for that assistance. Now if THAT story is the truth ( the details of her being denied admission ) then I can see that as discrimination of her white race there. Are all white people flush with $$?
I have not followed all the stories about her, but I have heard a few and I do not think she is a nutjob at all. She may be damaged emotionally from who knows what? I feel there is just more to this than what we see on the surface.

You're an awfully nice person, Walks...giving her the benefit of the doubt, and you may be absolutely right: I did hear a psychiatrist talk about the possibility that she may have had some sort of emotional trauma in her early childhood.
But even so....why turn herself black?! And why not seek help when she was an adult instead of continuing the charade?
Just too many questions....but for your sake...I'll give her the benefit of the doubt, too.. for now.......
