Went to RCSS last night to buy cucumbers. Saw local strawberries for $3.99. I had clipping on flypp for $2.50 ( later realized that price starts today) so grabbed a couple of quarts went to cash with a few other items. Cashier was awesome...the customer in front of me was buying lemons @$1.27 each...had a whole bag full cashier offered him a pm for $.50... He was super happy as it saved him more than 50% off. My turn..pm cucumbers and went to pm strawberries for $2.50 she said I can do better. Chinese supermarket has them for $1.88. Awesome. Made my purchase and then came back into store and bought 12 more quarts to freeze. Of course went to same cashier. They were freshly put,on display but were quite soft so quickly put in freezer last night and into freezer bags this morning.
come january will be happy to have local strawberries for smoothies!
Can an you imagine paying $1.27 for one lemon.. Holy crap that is crazy... Can see the whole citrus situation is going to be bad this year with the droughts in California. So I think if I see them on clearance I will buy them up squeeze and freeze into ice cube trays for winter as well. This thread is currently associated with: Real Canadian Superstore RCSS

oh pul leeze! the price they are posting for one lemon is just crazy!? I use a couple every day ( in beverage water and for juicing ) That was one very sweet cashier to tell customers about the better price! Nice going grabbing and freezing the berries.

Great brag. Love local fresh strawberries. You could not get fresh local strawberries at that price if you went and picked them yourself at the farms.
I wish more cashiers were like that. You are so lucky. You just have to remember to use that cashier the next time.

Awesome! Sometimes i do the same with lemons. Squeeze all of them and freeze the juice in ice trays. I use this lemon juice in my drinking water. Makes me feel healthy.
Great job freezing strawberries. No need to buy frozen berries bags now when you can buy and freeze them yourself for cheaper!
