In the past 5 weeks, we have been to 10 funerals. Going to one tonight and last night we found out another acquaintance passed away. Seems like this has been a very hard spring for our friends. Hubby always said when he retires, he will probably die. so far, he has kept busy and is doing well. But it is hard to see your friends and acquaintances pass on. Our circle of friends is getting smaller and smaller every year. When you are Young (Under 60, lol) you dont tend to think of death, but as you age the prospect looms closer and closer. You are sad that your friends are gone but you also feel good that its not you or any close family member and that in itself is sad because you are glad of other`s sadness and not your own. Does that make sense?

SnowFlakey, so sorry about all the losses you have experienced in saying final goodbyes to close friends. It makes sense to be grateful that you have been given more time here, but I know you don't mean you are " happy " it's them and not you. Yes, as we age that thought ( death ) creeps into our minds and more and more our family history ( DNA, genes ) start to weigh in on our possibilities of surviving to a ripe old age. Fingers crossed for us all to at least enjoy the time we have left.

Oh, SnowFlakey, we're in the same boat, although heavens, you and your Hubby have certainly had more than your share of friends pass away. It almost feels like a lottery, doesn't it? Who's going to be hit with what next? And will that be "the" thing that takes them from us?

All we can do is commiserate with them and count our blessings...I hope tonight is the last funeral you have to attend in a long time, Hon.
