Apart from camps / family trips & vacations (local or far), I tried to ask some other parents about activities for 11-year old
- Spend some days or half days at neighbourhood libraries
- Try sharing or grouping economy - taking turns with other families for day trips (museums, science centers), or childcare / childminding
- Get help from grandparents
- PanAm games
Wondering if any other good ideas? This thread is currently associated with: N/AMap IT - out-of-school programs & camp across GTA

Took my 11 year old yesterday to a flea market then spent the afternoon at Wasaga Beach!. We love packing a picnic (snacks) and hitting new parks. Take a bike ride somewhere new. Park and hike in a bush. Attend a Farmers market and let kids pick out a veggie/fruit they haven't tried. Plan a special cooking night where they pick the menu from local grown items bought at the market. Take the dog for a late night walk. Attend garage sales for a fun cheap outing.

A friend also recommended Cultura Festival (FREE community event) at North York Civic Center on 4 of the Friday evenings in July, which showcases musicians, dancers, buskers, art installations and international food vendors, and a featured film under the stars.
Guess some other communities may also have similar thingsMap IT - out-of-school programs & camp across GTA
