Another update - the gorilla tape did start showing signs of coming loose, although no leaking. But we managed to take the sticky tape off and, after watching a you tube video on repairing the rubber seal, we attempted the same. Bought a tube of plumbing goop (contact cement stuff) and bicycle patch and have now patched it. We'll see how this holds up now but I have good hope.

I opened our Union Gas bill to find out our equal billing payment has gone from $53.00 dollars last year to $38.00 dollars this year. Our delivery charge ($21.00) is higher than our actual gas consumption.

Using up the homemade mac and cheese that has been sitting in the freezer. It is not as good as Grandma's but DS is eating it anyway. (It is his lunch this week for school in a thermos) He is a trooper lol

I think it's just like buying organic herbs. Those are expensive. So, yah, a pretty good savings for a healthy cooking ingredient.

Eating leftovers for lunch! And I claimed my groceries on my cashback apps, getting me a total of 2.50$ back (not a lot, but I'll take it!)

I use equal billing for one. There is only 2 of us here so that may make a difference along with the size of our house.
I only have a gas furnace and water heater. I don't really know what to tell you other than we turn the heat down at night in the winter and off in the summer. We keep the house comfortable but will put a sweater on if chilly and if we feel the heat is on high enough.

An automatic timer also works wonders. Have it come on just before you get home, and go off slightly after supper.

I have also cut cords i.e. just internet and IP phone that has the clarity of a landline.

I was laying in bed last night when I realized we have a gas barbecue too...new to us so I forgot about it.
I open my curtains in colder weather when it is sunny for warmth but close them when it is dark. My living room curtains are insulated and I also have room darkening shades. My windows are always locked not just for safety but I believe it pulls them tighter together for less draft.
All my outlets are insulated along and my doors are weatherstripped. I also have a automatic timer on my thermostat. as mentioned by beachdown.
I am sure others have more ideas to share.

We have an apple tree in our common area. I think that they are crabapples, but they are very big. Today my nephews were visiting and I asked them to go pick some for me while I talked to their mom. They put in a less-than-enthusiastic effort, being loving brothers, they spent most of the time trying to push each other into the pond. But I went back later and "harvested" some more. I spent an hour "finding" the good parts of the apples and heated them up to make some applesauce. Lot of effort for small return so far, but I have a lot left to go and may get a decent amount. Thought I might put them into some little decorative bottles and give them to some of our neighbours for Christmas. We live in "Applewood Villas" - this used to be an apple orchard.
