What small thing did you do today to save money?

I had leftovers today and didn't venture out of the house except to shovel. Perfect day to stay in and save money.

Despite the snowdrifts I brought some nail polish and clothes to the consignment shop yesterday. Not expecting much of the clothing to sell in January, but most of the nail polish should go.

We have a lot of canned goods, so I'm making a big pot of chili with what's available.

Pulled tons of ground beef and 2 whole chickens from the freezer. Cooking it all today and planning the weeks meals accordingly.

Cut open and cleaned out the bottom of my AG Leave In Conditioner... pretty sure I have about 2 weeks worth left that the pump wasn't picking up.

Also, doing a freezer clean-out this week.

yesterday used up some points at shoppers 22,000=30.00 off my order -only paid 13 something

made an awesome roasted chicken. Got a couple of meals out of it then made chicken broth out of carcass. So will get 2 pots of soup out of the broth. Chicken was a PC free from kind for $1.88 lb. have another one in my freezer as I thought $6 was a decent price.

Instead of Swiss Chalet quarter chicken I bought a bbq chicken from Fortinos for $11.99 and have meals for the next few days.

Brought my breakfast and lunch to work today from home.
I have 68 kms left before I need to fill up my vehicle. I can totally wait till the weekend to fill up if I am smart about it. That is the goal

I took advantage of the Cineplex promo to see a movie today for half the usual points - 500 instead of 1000. And Cineplex had given me 500 free points last year - I think to encourage me to use my points - so the movie was totally free for me. I also brought popcorn from home as I was given a big bag of popcorn before the holidays

I cleaned out the hall closet on the 2nd floor. Tossed tons of junk/samples/expired that we won't use.
I have a pile that I am posting for sale.
I filled up a bin of stuff to use up the next month shampoo samples/1/2 cans of shaving cream etc (before going to the stockpile)

last time we stayed in a hotel, we checked our bill thoroughly like a SC
checked it twice and didn't notice there was a room safe charge
told the guy that we didn't ask for a safe so we should not have to pay for it
he took off the charge
can you imagine all the people who just pay that charge and never use the safe
hotel is making a killing

I asked to have the safe charge removed at super 8 in grande prairie and slave lake and both places refused.

I went to costco in november and updated my mailing address....and found out for 4 years my rebate checks had never been recieved so asked for them to be resent. Today we got a cheque use able at costco for 146.30.
