3% interest - Tangerine Bank - until September 3- You must call and ask

Some Tangerine customers received an e-mail offer for 3% interest.
We did not get that offer. So I emailed Tangerine. They said we have to call.

We told them that we heard some were getting 3%. We told them that PC Financial was offering 2.5%. We asked why we were getting 0.8% and if we could get 3%. It was set up in 30 seconds!

Conditions: Earn 3% interest on all new money into a Tangerine savings account. Money must be deposited between now and September 30. Interest will be paid November 30. Transfers between Tangerine accounts will not work.

Call and see if you can get the deal.

Weird, I did not have to call and received it effective July 2^nd , I was advised via email. This totally worked as I had moved the emergency fund to PC when they had the 2.5% offer and had not moved it back to Tangerine which is where the EF account resides. I am also receiving it each month which I prefer. I hate PC system of paying it not only at the end of the period but usually a week later.

Nice that you got the e-mail. The Tangerine lady told me that they are paying out at the end of period too.

I phoned and THIS offer ONLY went out to certain clients ( or so I was told? ) They said they could not offer me that rate, so I told them I shall be using other more appreciative banks to save my money and earn interests. They have really lost me as a customer now.

Keep your account open though. Also try to send an e-mail expressing your disappointment. There will probably be another rate promotion later in the year so people can top up their Tax Free Savings Account for 2015. Then in January/February, they may do the RRSP savings account rate.
