...the shooter is still at large. The woman being interviewed was also shot, and is presently in surgery. No motive yet. As the cameraman was falling, his camera caught the shooter and he's now trying to be identified.
I'm holding back tears for these two young people who were just starting to live their lives...I hope the shooter is shot dead so that his fifteen minutes of fame ends on a sidewalk!
Rest in peace, Allison Parker and Adam Ward....

Another shooting.....that doesn't make any sense! The world is going mad, and to think there are still people advocating to have the rights to own weapons. There is nothing big / macho / smart about it, just like hunting is dumb and class-less.
Her boyfriend, Chris Hurst, also works at the station. He has said they were "very much in love" and had just moved in together.

^ I rest my case about social media...hardly a place to get legitimate news. I don't seem to be missing much by not being part of it considering my tech savviness

An absolutely horrid situation - prayers for their families, co-workers, and friends.
This was posted on FB by a local broadcaster - Global Saskatoon Morning News
Kevin Stanfield
Taylor Shire (now of Global Regina) and I once did a career fair at Bedford Road Collegiate. Through the fracas of kids asking for Global balloons for the purpose of firing them at each other to the accompaniment of flatulence, there was one young lady who stood out in my mind.
She approached us with a sort of mystique about what we did. She asked pertinent questions. She cared about storytelling as a medium for her life and was interested in projecting it outward. You don’t see it all that often, but there’s a certain degree of rapt attention I’ve occasionally seen at such events. Those are the kids with “fire,” as I call them.
It’s a variety of passion, and it’s absolutely imperative to success in broadcasting. You can be the smartest, you can be the best communicator, or the most savvy niche reporter, but it ain’t worth jack if you can’t deliver your tale with conviction. I’m reminded of a quote: “It’s not about striking hardest or most often, but striking true.” And that’s broadcasting. It’s one of the things that bind most of us together. It creates a platform for lasting friendships, and is a major factor in our capacity to never stop growing as journalists.
It often transcends our stations. Two of my best friends in the city work for Sask Media Group, and I play hockey with another fellow from there, as well as one from CTV. My birthday dinner in April included the aforementioned, with a fellow from Rawlco Radio, too. We can joke about rivalries among stations, but the undertone is respect and understanding. We get each other. The struggle of small market media and occasionally eating less than our fill but for the love of what we do is something most of us know.
Firefighters and police officers have this same state of mind toward their professions, that which says “I know you, even though I’ve never met you.” People fall in their lines of duty, and they mourn their brothers and sisters across the nation and beyond. For broadcasters, it’s often not so different.
Fifteen years of involvement with this industry tell me that Alison Parker and Adam Ward weren’t all that different from the rest of us. We knew them without knowing them. We knew them because they had the “fire.” Through social media’s lamentation, know they were loved. I, just moments before writing this, addressed it on air and my legs went weak trying to stand and move on. And that’s the ticket. Moving on. I can’t and won’t forget this by tomorrow. This is one of the things that makes me pray. And pray I will.
The world lost some of its fire today. Rest in peace, Adam and Alison.

Same people here that go to Canadian Tire / Bass Pro shopping in Vaughan to buy hunting gear?????
Lets not fool ourselves, it's not just gangsters in Toronto that shoot other, it happens in the boonies too as we've seen with RCMP / police officer being shot. Then you have the biker gangs and other criminals

So another mentally ill person was sold a gun and who untimately shot a police officer Darren Goforth at a gas station.
If there are "do not fly" lists, why can't there be "do not sell a gun to this idiot" lists?!!
Just sayin'......
