I found it on the Perez hilton site, (yes, I loves my gossip) but WOW, this seems really bizarre. This thread is currently associated with: N/ARemember that even though pets are here for such a short time they teach us things we would never be able to learn in many lifetimes on our own.

It is weird. Then again that whole country is a bit on the "different" side. My Uncle works in the oil field industry and they were stationed in Saudi Arabia and I went to visit. They live in a compound and when we went out not even 2cm of my wrist was showing and I got slapped with a stick like object by the "Clothing Police" for showing to much skin and being female. Now that is messed up.

WE don't have dogs, but I 'll find dog poop on it. Not to mention other people's garbage. UURGGHH, people need to clean up after themselves.

You have to remember it is a Muslim country run by clerics and animals are considered filthy.
We run into the problem here all the time with taxi drivers, who are mostly Lebanese, if not all of them....and they don't want guide dogs in their cars.
When I go to the vet, I have to stipulate I have an animal in a carrier because it is not unusual for them to show up and refuse to take you, because only a portion of the drivers will accept you with a pet.
I have to add I get disgusted by those pet owners who won't clean up after their pets. Heck, ferret poops are smaller than a piece of licorice and I clean it up, when it happens. Usually my guys don't like to go outside, they often hit the box as soon as we get home. Please vote daily for my ferret site.

Honestly though, why do we think it's weird that these countries ban pets? You've only got to look at the west, where supposedly people are pets lovers, to see how some pets are treated.
Is this a we are better than them mentality? If people don't like the way a country runs things, then don't go there. I mean in the UK you don't pay to receive calls, and here is a good one, if you have pay as you go and you run out of credit, you can still receive calls for free.
Here in Canada and the US on the other hand, that is not the case. Now have learnt to live with that. Here is another one, in the UK you don't renew your driver licence every 5yrs, here on the other hand, that is not the case.
On the flip side, you need a yearly licence to own a tv in the UK, on this side of the pond, you don't.Last edited by blooz; Mon, Aug 4th, 2008 at 07:18 PM.

Ban was wrong choice of words my apologies - I applied for a job there and this was in the Moving brouchure.....
"It may be very important to you to bring your pet with you to Doha. Dogs are typically frowned upon in the Qatari culture, as they are considered unclean animals."
I guessed it to to mean don't bring one
