Some US stores are closing on Black Friday to give their employees time with their families around US Thanksgiving. REI is one. Staples is another.

I won't exactly call what happens here "Black Friday". So no harm, no foul really as the deals are not the same, and more of a gimmick. Same goes for the silly "Cyber whatever day".

The US economy is not exactly something to smile about, and with all the goings on with cops lately (another one in the news yesterday, with a moron cop assaulting a kid in class), am sure the cops don't want to have to deal with crowds.

Walmart (US) is planning their sales to start 24 hours after Hallowe'en

Walmart USA is having Black Friday deals, online, midnight Thanksgiving day. So there should be no need to line up and rush into the store on Black Friday.
