$25 TV packages offer - Dec. 1 - Will the cable companies do this happily?

The CRTC has ordered cable TV companies to let customers know about $25 pick and pay TV packages and bundles by December 1, 2015. By March 1, 2016, people can choose their TV packages.

Wonder how they will bundle things? Wonder if the Bells, Rogers, Cogecos and Shaws are going to offer good deals

Don't hold your breathe......all they will do is let customers pick their own shows vice the current lumping together crappy stations with a couple of good ones e.g nat geo, animal planet and hgtv. Then they will raise the price of the good channels.

They have to make their money back somehow

Currently Bell offers 158 channels for $41.95/month, with a bundle price of $14.95 for 3 months.
It will be interesting to see if the $25 pick and pay price will include Canadian channels plus US channels.

We're with Eastlink and I think their package is for pick 20(?) channels. Unfortunately, this does not encompass all the channels we prefer to watch. These ones are extra. I'm thinking about getting a Roku.

I thought it was March 2016 for the $25 Package, and Dec 2016 for pick and play???

That's right...people in the GTA should know that even with a cheap HD indoor antenna, you can pick up minimum 10 channels all in HD. More if you erect one outside or in the attic

Whatever they decide....I can bet you that the pkg won't include premium channels. You can expect the premium channels price, to make up for what they will be losing in terms of cost elsewhere e.g. approx $10 for Nat Geo or HGTV????
