I am very mad at Reitmans. I had mastered the art of purchasing pants. There was nothing like their comfort fit pants for my muffin top. I didn't have to try on the pants...just find my size in petite and go. However I was terribly sad to learn that they have lengthed their petite pants by atleast an inch. Which means pants I used to not have to sew I now have to sew. If I have to sew the pants why would I pay a premium to buy them new at reitmans? Are petite people getting taller or are people in china making really bad rulers? I don't know but I am very displeased. I returned my most recent pants and won't shop there again unless a sale puts the pants below 20 dollars so I can pay the seamstress to sew. Boo to Reitmans...or maybe yeh for taller short people.

I hate when you have clothing purchases down to a science and something changes. But coincidentally I have always complained their petite pants are too short!! Lol I am 5'4, with short legs and a long torso. Their petite pants should have been perfect for me, but were always too short!

i always have to get my pants hemmed. Tailors in chinatown here charge $10 per pair. Add that to the cost of new pants it adds up.

Not all petite pants fit me, some has 28" inseam which fits me better. 29" inseam I have to shorten the hem. I have to fix most of my pants anyway. I am only 5'3" with extremely short legs. Don't even want to start ranting about my size 5 feet.

I don't remember the last time I bought pants or jeans. Almost always buy leggings now.
Forever 21 has really short lengths I find. Could try them?
I'm 5'5 and the pants there don't fit me properly

Penningtons did the same thing a few years ago and now my Mom has to shorten all of her pants where is before they were perfect.

Reitman's purchasers likely made the length changes to their pants order unless their supplier no longer provides the shorter version. Odd, considering that the cost of some fibres seem to have resulted in shorter lengths across women's clothing items.

Have you considered Cleo's for petite pants or is there a length issue too?

@mandolinatou I know exactly what you mean! Petite size was the perfect answer for women like me too with a 30" inseam. I agree, if you have to now alter them, time to find a less expensive store.

It might be a bit of a nuisance, but seriously, it takes what? 20 minutes to hem a pair of pants? Simplest alteration ever.
If you don't sew you can fold up the hem and use iron on hem tape.

She has not started to shrink yet actually the girls in the store told her they are making them longer. Guess they feel society is getting taller.

Ladies try having a 36" inseam. I was forever in pants too short growing up.

Think most clothing falls into the 29-30" inseam range. When I used to get the non-tall pants at Sears, I usually was an inch short in the legs...

36" inseam @wolfwoman ! Someone had to be a sewist to rescue the short pants and make them wearable for you.

I did not know this. I had mastered the art of buying pants as well at Reitmans, comfort fit in petite size. I always buy my pants online during their boxing day sale because I knew the exact size and fit and didn't need to try on before buying. This may change this year unless I can make it in to the store to try it on first.
