Thread: Earth Fresh Potatoes - Freshco

I recently bought 2 bags of your potatoes at freshco. I had stored them about 2 weeks in my basement on the cold floor. It has been many years since I have bought worse bags of potatoes. Both bags had rotten potatoes in them. The one bag I had to throw out 1/2 the potatoes in it because they were rotten or black inside. I opened the second bag to find rotten ones in that bag as well.
I don't have the receipt still or I would return them to the store.
I have been buying the farmers market ones and will be going back to them because This brand's quality is dismal. This thread is currently associated with: FreshCo

Actually I bought farmers market yellow potatoes last week and threw them out because they were the hardest grossest potatoes I have ever bought. I noticed a lot of horrible looking potatoes last week, all different brands.

Geez better check out the bag I just bought. Don't want to go to peel them Christmas Day and find them rotten or we may be having Christmas rice instead of nice Jamie Oliver recipe roasted potatoes...they are amazing!

I just bought a bag of these last week. I have used them a few times this week and only had to throw one away as it was green. By the way I have returned stuff at FreshCo without a receipt before. No harm in trying to get a refund or a store credit at least.

Hi, I'm the one in the store who smells the bag of potatoes. LOL I have no issue with any rotting when I smell the inside of the bag through the mesh. If you pick up two or three and sniff them you will absolutely smell the difference. I look for the bag with very little smell and all works well. When it has that strong 'earth' smell I think it is more of a mildew smell than anything. I used to do it discretely, now I just haul up the bag and 'sniff sniff'.
