I've done it before and it worked. Of course it won't work if the offer is for food items. Bags wouldn't qualify for that but I've used it the past to bring the total up. I haven't had to since Loblaws bought in though.
If it's for food items only then it's a personal choice to get things that your family need and use. What I do then is choose a low priced item that I have already purchased and then just tell them I'll take another one and they can scan it twice and after paying I'd just grab the other one. That way you don't hold up the line and get something you'd buy anyway.

My SDM doesn't charge the bags...I guess that's a store by store thing? Good tips in this thread, thanks for sharing them! Gotta say, those gummy candies are quite addictive

I always use 39 cents individual tissue pocket pack to add up.

I usually check the clearance shelves for something, Essence makeup stuff at $1.99 (because at least I will use it), cans of wet cat food, pocket packs of tissues, makeup applicators are often cheap

I find it is a cashier thing at some stores, the regular store I go to, 2 cashiers always charge, 1 charges 1 bag even if you get 3-4 and the others never charge

Great thread! I redeemed yesterday (low on cash after holidays, lol) and was $0.70 shy of my redemption.
Got a pack of cheese & crackers on clearance for $0.49. Wish I had thought of the tissue pocket packs!
    Damn!
At least my store always has great clearance on food items I'd use anyway!
