Hello new gardener here I just planted these in my planter box
    Hosta
    Sprirea
    perennial Amethyste
    Serum

Looking for advise for how to care for these plants when winter hits. I would like the plants to grow back next year.

I read online that I should cut the plants down to the soil level then cover with multch.

Any info or tips would be greatly appreciated.

    Please and thank you

Our hosta isn't surrounded by a box so we just mow it down when it's ready to be pruned. At some point, I need to get out and dig some up to put in another location.

Both plants are great. They are survivors. They can do well in dry conditions and usually survive a harsh winter.
