Awesome remarks from Best director - Alejandro G Iñárritu for The Revenant, his second directing Oscar in a row after winning for Birdman last year

I really don't understand how Spotlight won best picture - I thought it was so very boring.

I have only seen one of the nominated movies. Guess I will have to make a "to-be-watched" list - it takes me forever to get to my "to-be-read" list of books! I am so far behind the current in these things.

i think the controversy has been blown out of proportion.. and i do agree Jada is just peeved that her hubby didn't get the Nod so she has to make a loud stink about it blaming it on the colour of his skin.. but there are many other actors out there who also well deserved a nod and didn't get one (the little boy from Room for example.. amazing performance!)When life hands you Edward Cullen...throw him back and demand Eric Northman....

okies.. skimmed through the posts..
i had to slightly speed watch the oscars.. fast forwarded through some of the reviews and songs i'll admit
my take--
-lacked humour (or atleast whimsy) that many other awards has had lacked interaction with the crowd/musical number..
-the whole oscars so white controversy, we've been hearing about it since the nominations came out, but i felt they dedicated too much time towards it, and not enough time to everything else movie/actor related...
-very nice in memoriam
a few surprises on winners.. Mad max really won the night!, Leo winning was no surprise...somewhat surprised stallone didn't win for creed(he's sorta been winning many of the awards for it.. and i think people have a soft spot for him/the role), spotlight winning best movie was a bit of a surprise BUT it was a really decent movie (not my fave of the lot.. i think out of all i liked Room the most), kinda glad the reverent didn't steamroll the night
i missed all the preshows (spent wildly too long baking/decorating cookies), so i didn't see any of the arrivals..When life hands you Edward Cullen...throw him back and demand Eric Northman....

Sorry couldn't watch it after Chris Rock beat a dead horse for the first 15 minutes and ruined it for me. WTG calling everyone in the room who is responsible for voting a racist. Good thing Oprah and Tyler Perry have money, they can hire him for his next job since he burned the bridge with everyone in the room.
Thankfully Walking Dead was on.

Sorry, I didn't watch it at all, forgot all about it...actually...can't be bothered to remember, but doesn't this atrocious dress remind us of that Carol Burnett spot from Gone With the Wind, where she wears window drapes with the rod still through it and says, "I saw in in the window and just had to have it."??? LOL....seems some little girl is missing her sheer drapes this morning.....I do enjoy seeing the fashions the next day but this one? WHAT on earth was she thinking??!! Cinderella's Fairy Godmother?!

I have to agree with you, Patty. I think they carried it way too far. I wasn't surprised that he brought it up in his opener but then he just kept going on and on with it. Shut up already! We get it!
Did anyone else think Stallone looked less than impressed with his crack about the Rocky/sci-fi comparison? He's Rocky, man! You don't piss off Rocky!
@Lynn49
I'm still trying to figure out why she was there in the first place. What has she contributed to the cinema........ ever? I can't stand that one.

i'm glad i'm not the only one who felt that he was beating the dead horse.. sure cover it in the opening monologue but also cover other things.. and once you've covered it move on! there's endless material to joke about when it comes to hollywood
next year i'm really hoping for a new host or a really old host (i'm sure he's wildly too busy... but...i'd love to watch hugh jackman host again!)
i'm now waiting for this evening's fashion police...to me thats the best way to end an oscar season (though they are not as good as they used to be since Joan Rivers has left us)When life hands you Edward Cullen...throw him back and demand Eric Northman....
