    @Granger lovely shower and pictures

    ____________________________________

I spent last night at my mom's, I attended my nieces bridal shower, it was quite different than other showers I attended in the past, oh well, it was nice to see her, she received a good variety of gifts from her registry which was nice.

My mom treated me to Chinese buffet for lunch today it was so nice eating a buffet for a change, the food was great and so was the company .

I stocked up on Palmolive dish soap, however, I still have a few coupons left as the store that they were on sale at didn't have any stock and WM had a limited supply, however, the coupons are good for a little while yet.

Went to Metro and they only had 6 bbq sauce so went to WM but they had very few in stock so I will check on Wednesday when I bring ds to his appointment if time permits.

Popped into Independent grocers and well the 4-1 Power Core was only 12 packs so passed on the sale as it's cheaper to get ide pods or Gain Flings.

I got home this afternoon and moved my armoire into the new room. Our bed was moved into the room this evening....yippee....can't wait to sleep in the bedroom.

Wishing everyone a wonderful evening, hoping it warms up tomorrow as I have laundry to wash and it's been so cold the last 2 days...brr...winter coat cold.

J&C: nice taut you had a good visit with your mom.
Granger: this is a nice way to include lots of people in the festivities.
Sassy: the ford tech is pretty easy to use. I have loved how easy it is.
Had a no spend day today. I really need to keep better track of them as I find it very encouraging.

I think my aversion to making pre-authorized payments from my chequing account came from a relationship with Bell. They took a $50 deposit on the final month's bill and it took nearly two months to get it back. Rogers did it to DH and it took me four and a half years after he moved to get it back. That one was more interesting because the account was solely in his name as a single guy back then, in a town two hours away. I called and they didn't speak to him at all, but a cheque came to our address in his name.

So, I always move money manually, but this time it backfired. I've gone back to the pre-authorized payments.
I don't like preauthorized payments...esp the power ones where the bill is different month to month. Im always leery of double with drawals or extra fees being added.

I have calendar reminders that go off on my phone.

@sweet sparrow -the shower was pricey, but we chose it to be that way. There was only going to be one and we wanted it to be like a smaller scale Italian or Serbian wedding shower. (A mini-wedding). I had seven smaller bridal showers and a large wedding. My sister is having a smaller wedding and we decided on one large shower as the groom does not have a lot of family.

My mom wanted to include some people to celebrate that will not be invited to the wedding. My mom would have invited them, but the bride wants small and her numbers dictate making choices. Anyway, because we wanted people to celebrate with us, but not offend, it had to be done tactfully. My mom and I had conversations before sending shower invites with attendees. i.e. the wedding is small, we don't want to offend with a shower invite that doesn't have a wedding invite follow, but we want you there to celebrate with us. They could always decline the invite, but if they know us, it is not about the present, but presence. So all this to say, we wanted it to be a bigger scale shower to honour those in attendance who would not be celebrating with us in the summer

    APPS
    -SDM
-PC Plus (I earned $50 in points!!! Not spent $50. I rarely have offer that meet my needs but always scan my card. I think if you spend $150 there is a point kickback that is not in your offers. I don't usually spend that much in one trip).
-Paperless (it is a to do list app...it is my favourite and I upgraded from the free version for that very reason).
@Granger : It's not you, it's the kids! it's amazing how being around little bundles of energy saps all of mine! I get tired just watching them run.

I hope you did not take my post as a criticism. I always believe we should save our money where we can so we can spend it on the people and things that bring joy to others and ourselves. Besides that, I *love* weddings, from the ones that cost $500 to the ones that cost $50,000. They're just such happy occasions that can't be ruined by torrential rain (like at mine), blizzards that shut down highways (my BIL), or emergency surgery (my dear friend's). It's as though the sun can't help but shine on the happy couple. I also love wedding showers, bridal showers, ....maybe I just like themed parties. Ha ha!

Thank you, I will have a closer look at those apps. How do you tell if there is a charge to get them?

This weekend, I was over at a family of five (three young children under six) and I think I would have lost it. The oldest is the instigator, and riles everyone else up. The second child is older than mine, but boy, can he cry a lot and the volume is not to be ignored! The baby is probably the one that needs the most attention, but she is the most silent, except when she demands food, which can take over an hour to eat. Gracious! I think one is impossible to keep up with sometimes, two is a disorganized mess of constantly rushing, and three would be a madhouse with two working parents! Luckily, mom is able to work from home, but I have no idea how she does it. Parents of three or more, I salute you!

I also do not do pre authorized payments, too many horror stories but I now force myself every pay day to sit down and do any money transfers needed as I have 2 accounts, one for me and one for our house, as well pay any bills. The way I look at it is the first of the month is all our BIG bills (mortgage, HOA, Taxes) and all direct payments, my second pay goes to the others (Cable, Hydro) which I pay.

This is also why I have the banking apps on my phone so no matter where I am I can do what needs to be done and I do not need to rely on an internet connect, just saying some Hotels seems to be better then others and frustration goes up when you always get so close and the internet drops.

Has anyone where ordered from Wal-Mart Online?

I was looking at a phone case which they do not sell in stores but I am a little put off by the over 2 week delivery time. Are there estimated delivery times normally accurate?

I was ordering often last year when it was free shipping on anything (no minimum) It seemed to come very quickly then.

Just wrote the cheque to pay for DS's 2016/2017 Hockey season.
Stuff I am selling now is filling my "Summer fun fund" jar. Once it is full lol then it will be my "hockey jar" Money to pay for gate fees, treats at the arena for DS and if I am ambitious maybe a weekend away for a tournament. I better get posting!

    Good morning, everyone.

Had a wonderful time on Saturday meeting up with a group of SCers! Brought a friend who had a lot of fun too, meeting people from the internet (a very foreign concept ).

Still a bit stressed about my Mom (have a week to go til the specialist appt). I'm torn about not staying with her, but I went to see her & she insisted on doing things for me, so I think I'd be more hindrance than help. I have a feeling that the infection is back (never got knocked out of her system) cause she's feeling weak.

My friend is now officially homeless (has a few months to actually leave the family home), so I've been searching for a place. The less than charitable siblings were dancing with glee that the house sold and that they now had their inheritance (one idiot actually used the word entitlement). The only good thing is that the new owners are a nice young couple (my friend screened the buyers, so that the neighbours wouldn't be dealing with challenges, siblings only cared about getting top dollar).

Had a very nice thing happen on the weekend which reaffirmed my faith in people (well, strengthened it, being with the SCers on Sat already made me realize that there are more nice folks than evil ones out there). I've mentioned my obsession with the root beer at the local pub, well, most of the staff know me now (a lot by name). Went over for a drink and was surprised to have a plate of the yummiest fries put in front of me - nice young chef thought I could use a snack. So unexpected and so very sweet.

Better get on with my day. Have babysitting duties this week - neighbour doggy is not happy her human is away, so extra cookies are in order, as well as some tlc. Lily dog is fine with sharing my time, as long as there are cookies for her, Quincy cat is decidedly jealous (he's sound asleep in the sunshine with his back turned to me). I suspect I'll have to cook a certain someone a gourmet dinner to make amends.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

I had to smile when you wrote 'parents of three or more, I salute you' Having five boys in 10 years was truly a blessing for our family and we still feel so blessed even though three have moved out. How did we do it? I guess, in the wisdom of my grandfather who said, "make sure they know who is boss." lol Now all my boys tower over me and joke how their mom kept them all in line And, yes, they were spanked (in love) at times but they don't remember being spanked. All this nonsense that parents have to always reason and talk through problems with their kids drives me crazy. There are times when kids cross that line and no talking will help. We are proud of our boys - they were ALWAYS raised in love and that is the most important gift a parent can give their kids.

Well Wal-Mart has lost my sale, wanted to add $5 handling fee and over 2 weeks to deliver, nope not going to happen. None of the cases I like are available in store so they lost this sale.

Went to amazon found a ton of options better pricing, no handling fee, lower minimum, plus I have giftcards I can use off Swagbucks so no $$$ out of pocket.

Amazon I expect to order to online but stores like Wal-Mart seeing more and more online and having less in their stores really is starting to effect how I shop. Getting a little fed up with going to a store and being told to go home and order online and then when you go online you have minimum shipping fees, handling fees, long delivery times. I go to your store because I want the product now.

@saundyl : How do you find etsy for selling your handmade items? Are there costs involved? what do you think of it?

My mom is asking and thinking about selling her knitted scarves.

Lilo yes the ford does seem to be extremely user friendly, so far I think I have almost everything figured out. Just a few small things to look at.
