Update-Longos Ancaster will open in September (I'm off by a month): http://www.thespec.com/news-story/67...e-in-ancaster/
There is a new LLBO store being put in the plaza at Upper James and Rymal. Just down from Ontario Works. Walked by there Tuesday and it is all gutted inside so will take a while to get it done and open.
@Chris Weaver -interesting! I know that Fabricland is moving to South Hamilton Square next month after the current location's moving sale wraps up.
Closing in August-Rainbow Treasures on Concession St. Porcelain dolls and supplies on sale July 25. http://www.hamiltonnews.com/news-sto...et-is-closing/
Closed-Raindrops (Toronto store in Holt Renfrew on Bloor) at end of June. http://www.raindropsto.com/
Grand Opening: Designer Shoe Warehouse (Ancaster Meadowlands) on August 11 at 8am. Source: bus shelter ad on Mohawk Rd. W. just west of Magnolia Dr in West Hamilton.
Update: Aug. 11-did not attend opening as there were no ads promoting the event in my part of town and it's super humid. Website indicates that first 100 people at store opening get a $25 DSW card. Have signed up for email newsletter just in case something good comes along (it won't be shoes as the store does not go beyond size 10).
Opening soon: New LCBO in Ancaster next door to Longos-August 23. Saw the banner yesterday when I walked by (pity there is no HSR 16-Ancaster bus stop at the Longo's entrance or even at the roundabout Eastbound (but westbound at the McClure Rd roundabout has a stop). You can disembark at the Garner Rd stop by Wendys (from the 16-Ancaster or 44-Rymal buses) and hike to the pedestrian traffic signal opposite the Ancaster Toyota and walk on the gravel shoulder about one block back.
Reopening later this month: Westcliffe Home Hardware (store sign indicates renovations are occurring) on August 29.
Reopened: Good Health Mart in Westcliffe mall (the mall had a broken water main in mid-July that affected many businesses).
Closing-Aug.31, Scopes Store @camt ech on Concession Street. Owner will still do classic camera repairs from home.

(There's a Streetfest on Concession Street this coming Saturday as well.)
Closing/Retirement sale: The Villager Gentlemen's Clothier in Westdale Village in September. Ad in August issue of The Bay Observer. Shop during regular store hours or by appointment. http://www.westdalevillage.ca/direct...emens-clothier
Opening soon-Homesense Ancaster in new store (in former Target Ancaster building, now converted to 4 storefronts) location on Sept. 27 (grand opening). Hiring too: www.thisisushomesense.ca . The Marshalls storefront only has slat wall fixtures installed at this point (it will be between the Homesense and DSW stores). Fourth unit is still under construction.
LCBO (Wilson St West, Ancaster)-will open at 10am on August 23. Mailer came today that first 500 customers that bring in their flyers will get the LCBO branded tote bag on opening day.
Fabricland Upper James-forgot to mention that I saw a white banner with store name on the former side of Target building facing out to Rymal Rd. W. Could not make out rest of banner content from moving bus I was on.
Longos on Twitter-their Community roundup of photos has one image of a group around a cake. The " future " part of the cake has the names of Ancaster and Ajax (store openings to come).
There is also a sign at the former Upper James Target location that JYSK will be opening soon, beside Flying Squirrel whenever it opens.

Thought that Fabricland was opening next to Flying Squirrel. I noticed the Fabricland store ad (yesterday's Spec) mentioned that store opening is delayed. Their banner at South Hamilton Square was on the Flying Squirrel building (FS now has its logo/name on building).
I really wish that Marks and Spencer had a storefront at South Hamilton Square. Not far from airport for shipments and on the bus route/lots of parking.
Noticed that Stirling Furniture on Upper James seems have vacated their store front (in plaza kitty-corner to Denningers et al). Store website does not indicate a change of address.
Coming Soon-Shoeless Joe grill house at former Airport Inn site (first building).
Can anyone please tell me if the Costco in Waterloo is opened yet? And when does Costco in Orillia open?
@Horndogg - Waterloo Costco is listed as October 2016 location. http://www.costco.ca/new-locations.html
No mention of Orillia-wait another year.
Closed for renovations/expansion: India Village Ancaster, until Sept. 5. Restaurant has applied for a liquor licence as well. Visit Dundas location in the meantime.
Closed for a week: Sammy's Restaurant (Ancaster), Aug. 25-Sept. 1.
Thanks
