Hello this is not a pet freebie but a pet question

I'm tired of spending money on litter and I'm tired of the stench.

Has anyone trained their cat to use the toilet? If so can you please share how you trained them and what resources you used?

My cat is about 6 years old and doesn't have accidents so I think maybe she could learn how to use the toilet.

Great instructions there. And a great idea to toilet train your cat! I have considered doing that with my cat, but we are 2 adults, 2 kids, and 1 toilet, and DH has issues which cause him to have to go a lot sometimes...sooo I'm not sure introducing another toilet user would be a good idea for us lol

I trained my mothers cat years ago. He was about 6 months old and we had the litter box in the bathroom and I thought it would be funny if I picked him up while he was peeing and put him on the toilet....I was 13 at the time lol

Well he took to it right away. My fathers friend came over once and he wanted to go to the bathroom and he heard someone in the bathroom going for a pee, so he waited and out comes the cat...lmao

I don't know if this method would work but it worked for me at that time

We trained our Bengal, tho you have to really be diligent aboutt changing the litter when you only have 1c-1/2c left int eh bowl before you add the water...
and make sure there are no plants around that may be easier to use that the new system

I trained 3 of my cats to use the toilet. I started in Aug 2011. They are still in training. The oldest one who is 5 yrs old is the best trained. The other 2 are 1 1/2 years old and have had several accidents. I had to retrain one of the young ones who had a foot go through the hole & right dab into the water.

I cringe whenever I hear about this, the effects that it has on wildlife is very damaging. If you live near an ocean, or even if you have a well and tile bed it can cause serious problems!

    http://www.moderncat.net/2008/11/13/...ning-your-cat/

"Cat feces can* contain a dangerous parasite called Toxoplasma gondii, the same parasite that can cause birth defects in humans, which is why pregnant women are warned not to come in contact with cat feces."

It also kills animals in the Ocean, and if you are dumping it in your tile bed it will make its way right back into your well and drinking water.

I was thinking of it as well as my kittens are still young. They have toilet seats (that are smaller like those kids seats). I was going to save up and order them off eBay to see if my cats would use it.

my cat is just about finished. I used the citikitty. So it took her almost 3 months to get trained and for me to trust her. She can also go from a litterbox at someone else's house and back to the toilet at my house with no problems
