Having some difficulty lately viewing my computer screen , feel like I`m straining my eyes.
Over all my visions good.
Looking for companies you get lenses and frames from? I have an eye doctor but all his frames are brand name and over $300.
Would love a pair but maybe there are savings codes to buying online?

If you have a prescription, just do some local shopping...for a simple prescription it shouldn't cost that much. Usually frames at optometrists' offices are quite pricey. There are always sales out there, and esp this time of year, beginning of school.

It doesn't help now, but I know that Loblaws Optical has a sale one day every year for a complete set of eyeglasses. I think it's normally in June or July. I missed out this year, but luckily my Rx wasn't so bad I needed a new pair. I paid $259 for both frames and lenses.

If you have a Costco Membership or know someone who does I hear they have great pricing and excellent quality and service.

Hi,
Just wanted to say if you are in your 40's this is common as we age. Just get the dollar store reading glass 1.25 to start should help you. For me it is small print like coupons fine print prescriptions, low lighting like in the evenings etc. You can enlarge your font size on your computer too. If you still head towards prescription glasses loblaws is having there one time year supersale on glasses. Or Costco would be an affordable place to try. Hope this helps.

^ Not even close to 40.
I went yesterday, got my prescription.
Looking on clearly, they have next to nothing. Lenscrafters is insanely overpriced. Will check out costco

Hope you have luck finding something cute and fab that you love!
Last time I got glasses, I lucked out at the optometrist's office - both for the frames that suited me really well, and for the price.

Depending on your age, our eyes change as we get older. Don't jump to prescription glasses if you don't have to. Your eyes become dependent on them. You can get those reading glasses at the $ store or Cost Co? It will help you for the small print. I am going through the same thing. I haven't read all the reply posts so sorry if I am repeating something or if something sounds off. Cheers.

Also scope out Sears Optical and Hudson Bay Optical-periodic sales on frames and lenses.
Independent eye care clinics-worth looking around. Think $300 is the reality of pricing unless there is a sale situation.
My specs from 4 yrs ago were $275 and that was over the $250 budget. Love the frames but not the screw that keeps coming out.
BTW, most Walmarts have an optical place too! WM Optical is of the rare places to find eyeglass holders (they look like shoelaces; fancier ones from Foster Grant can be found in bigger Rexall stores).Last edited by Ciel; Tue, Oct 25th, 2016 at 10:38 PM.

I ended up buying off of Clearly.
They had a promo code 10% off and Free shipping
I picked out some frames from Marc by Marc Jacobs. They had cheaper frames ($60) but were rather eccentric styles (Bright colours, not my forte)
They were on sale, then an additional 10%-. Came to $130.50 with lenses and everything.
Excited! I hope they come this week and hopefully suit me.

All the frames at my optometrist were over $300 (Prada, Tiffany, brand names etc) and they didn`t include lenses.
Sorry, I can`t justify $500 glasses that I wear only when I`m reading things up close lol
