I will see if stuff is on sale and good price, otherwise I will just redeem for a couple of bags of milk, pretty much standard price everywhere and maybe a loss leader for most stores, just to get you in.

I find even bananas to be same price at most stores thesedays , just for that purpose.

I believe you can.

even if you can't, if you just buy some other product on the receipt like a bag of milk or something, I think the system doesn't or can't prevent you from redeeming your Cash AM.

No it can be any card from the rack, I usually pick up a few Tim's cards during these redemption events

I've had mixed experiences (works about 80% of the time). Their registers will allow the cashier to put it through, but some employees insist that you can't redeem for gift cards (see: fine print in the flyer).
