I do the same thing with my diabetic supplies & insulin.... i've helped a couple of my local community organizations, as well as transfered points to my sister to redeem for donations for the Fort McMurray fires last summer. I haven't paid for shampoo or toothpaste in years!! haha I could never hold onto my points for a whole year!!! ...lol
Good for you for helping your community and being a Christmas angel!!Last edited by hogama; Tue, Nov 29th, 2016 at 02:00 PM.

I really enjoy donating most of this stuff...we have enough (although my teenaged daughter would not agree) and I like to give.

I am just curious, do you get points on Prescriptions? You said you are Diabetic and thats how you accumulate so many points.

I buy my supplies over the counter on 20x days and have the pharmacist write me a receipt that I submit to my drug benefit provider.
Small benefit for having type 1 diabetes but I will take It!

You get points for the actual dollars you spend. So I *think* what's happening here is instead of having the money taken off at the till with benefits she is paying the cost up front to collect the points and then submitting the receipt and having the insurance cover it that way so for example my anxiety meds cost me like $6 or something after my drug coverage so I'd get like 60 points I think I was told (hardly worth switching) but if I were to pay for the meds (no idea on cost let's say $100) I'd get 1000 pts? Am I understanding correctly? Then submitting my $100 receipt to my insurance?
I could be wrong as it's for diabeties and there are a lot of "extras" needed versus the prescription of insulin. So maybe it's just the materials that are being bought. I'm just assuming

Anyone can get their diabetic supplies (test strips, needles) & insulin over the counter.... You just have to ask for it at the pharmacy counter and have them write up a receipt.
Also.... load your offers to your Optimum card. Every Friday for the last few months, they have a downloadable offer for 20x the points on a Friday. Which is great if you weren't planning to go to Shoppers on a Saturday!Last edited by hogama; Fri, Dec 2nd, 2016 at 09:41 AM.
