    Good Evening Everyone,
Went out and did a little bit of shopping today. Really just wanted to get stuff for New Year's Eve, we do not go out but instead do appetizers and some sort of marathon. I will check and see what is on Netflix that we would both like.

I had seen in another thread someone mentioning No Frills had Eye of Round on sale unadvertised for $0.99/lb. My store did not have them for $0.99/lb but instead $1.97/lb, still an awesome price so we picked up 2. They also had (advertised) Ham for $1.47/lb so we grabbed a Ham as well. As well I grabbed 2 packages of Raw Shrimp for $3.97/bag as a treat, Mom loves shrimp dishes but it is so rare we can afford it.

Spent more then I would have liked, just under $100 but turns out Mom had points on her MC which covered the cost (she has not linked her MC to her PC Plus Card) and she still has more which we may use next week.

Mom is off next week, we were not sure if she would get it off as her manager's Mom suffered a stroke on Christmas Day so Mom offered to work. Last I heard the manager's Mom needed one more test done but would take a few weeks to co ordinate but she is currently down in Sunnybrook. I will get more details from Mom tomorrow before she heads off to work.

Our plan for next week is to clean and purge our house. We are talking hardcore clean. As well we will do a bunch of cooking for the freezers. In the New Year I am working for AR for 3 weeks (maybe more) which means I will be home with no travel. I will have to commute so I would like to stuff ready in the freezer as I will be getting home later then normal. I will start planning our cooking tomorrow.

    Have a wonderful night everyone.

A friend has been storing a broken yard tractor in our garage for years. He called this afternoon because he had a serious buyer for it. This friend asked what I wanted from DQ, but I turned that offer into a bag of grapes from the grocery store. Our twins had some with their supper tonight. Anyway, the friend sold the lawn tractor and gave us $50 for our trouble. It has been in storage at our small property for way too long, but I'm happy for the money. It is supposed to be picked up in the next couple of days. I'm also selling some more stuff of local Facebook garage sale pages, we'll see how that goes.

It looks like we are getting 5-10 cms of snow on Saturday so we decided to travel on Monday instead, dh left a message with the taxidermy and tomorrow we will venture out to Home Depot, Canadian Tire, SDM and the bank.

I have a really great sdm offer so the timing works great as we need to stock-up on milk.
@SassyAshley hope the purge goes well, it sounds like perhaps your mom is now ready to let go of some items that have been stored for quite some time.
@Angela273 hope the kiddos are feeling better, so glad you will get some space back and the $ is a bonus so win win.

I used 100.00 in PC points and paired it with some offers at Fortinos. They had some good offers on a 3 day sale. So bought steak shrimp & frozen pizza so the freezer is full. I need a good sale on chicken as we are almost out. I am hope to do an eat from the freezer/pantry challenge for January, its a nice way to start the year off right.

Hi all. Had a headache for most of the day. Tossed chicken burgers in oven for kids. Leftovers in fridge. Tomorrow we have a family brunch and exchange gifts. Then depending on weather we may go for a drive and have free dinner at casino and use free slot play we both have so free night out. New Years Eve we have a nice dinner planned at home and hoping to keep it quiet ☺

The person that bought the yard tractor is now paying us $20/month to continue to store it in our garage until spring. He wanted to pay $40/month but Dh doesn't want to let him pay us that much. He is a dad of a different friend of dh's.

I am joining in on the eat from the freezer month as well. I plan to stock up on cheese for IGA blue Friday deals. I will buy four blocks of cheese for 20.00 and get 10.00 in airmiles back so that should keep is in cheese for quite some time and chicken at Save on Foods on 10% Tuesday, it is about 18.00 for the box. Other than that produce and milk should be all that we need!!
If anyone likes Reitmans they have a 60% off last sale price, we are going to Palm Springs in May and they had a rack of summer clothes out, I picked up two sundresses marked down to 9.99 from 50.00 and got 60% off so 3.99 each for each dress and a pair of linen capris for the same, it came to 10.10 for two dresses and a pair of pants, I am not sure on the math but there must have been a discount I wan't aware about!! I did a bit of Christmas shopping as well for my daughters, picked up some beautiful blanket scarves and sweaters. I just couldn't refuse the prices!!

I've been receiving Reitman's sale e-mails but won't venture into the local store until next week. I usually get socks from the store but I should check the pants on the sales racks just in case I find THE ONE PAIR. Yes, it's high drama to find pants I can wear.

Nice snow-all that slush-that fell overnight. Pity I don't have that snow brick toy to make a fort! Powder snow in afternoon was a fine touch. I shovelled snow just in case things freeze harder overnight. Was right to get little shops done yesterday. Did not want even to set foot into Shoppers on way home from library today to see what is left on clearance sales shelves. Made a pizza dough and used the regular Primo pizza sauce to have a lunch to enjoy with the herbal beer (yes, the thyme and rosemary are noteworthy; lavender is mingled with them) purchased yesterday.

Things I have noticed in flyers: Sobeys Extra has a save $5 wus $50 on catering order coupon yet the fine print says it is only valid at Ontario Sobeys and Sobeys Urban Fresh. Since Extra is a third version of Sobeys, why have the coupon in a store flyer that likely does not qualify for the promo?
The East Side Mario's flyer-noticed calorie counts or calorie ranges were printed with menu items. Harvey's is doing the calorie count for its $1.99 menu items too-saw the print ad in a newspaper with tiny numbers.

Looking over the new grocery and Shoppers flyers this afternoon-I did not find personal care items on sale or at prices I want to pay. Think I'll have to wait for following week's flyers for those essentials. I have my list for Jan. 5 written up and I know if I buy anything not on the list or priced, the budget for each of the 4 categories goes POOF!

Tomorrow is last chance to try sample bevvies at Starbucks between 11am-1pm.

For the romance book readers among us-how many of you saw the video (Romance When You Need It) on the Harlequin site about one office worker telling another one to take a break? 58 sec of how to sell romance books. Did not see this one earlier but I had some giggles. It would be too distracting to have breaktimes as narrated in the video.

Took a day off from reading more of the new book but I did read about raspberry leaf tea. Not only does it help to balance hormones, it also helps new mothers to avoid post-partum depression and helps with milk production.

One grocery store does not have Traditional Medicinals raspberry leaf tea but the store does have a Celestial Seasonings zinger tea variety pack with raspberry zinger listed. So I'll buy it next week and see if a) the tea tastes wonderful or not and b) does anything for my joint pains (they've been on the outer edges of my hips and legs-all those bends yesterday made things more ouchy-Epsom salts helped a wee bit today).

Any reviews on the tea by members who've had it recently or tried it in the past? Insights are appreciated!

I've worked my way almost to the end of the white tea mango & peach bags this month (but did make the tea two times and yes, it's lovely to sip). At least three times, I've chomped on a pit piece because I pour the tea bag contents onto buttered or oiled pasta with pepper flakes and sea salt. I'm not keen to drink green tea but I sure do wish to get what antioxidant benefits I can from the tea via food.

No flyer in effect tomorrow for Shoppers. So be prepared for regular prices.

Hello folks! I was exhausted at 11:00 but after I am sure DH is sleeping soundly, sometimes I just can't get to sleep.

Family visit is going terrifically! Lots of lovely times and entertainment provided by our 18 month old granddaughter.

I bought a recordable book at Hallmark called "Granddaughter," which DH recorded for her. His voice is getting weaker, but it turned out very well. His daughter was thrilled that her dad will be able to "speak" to her daughter as she grows up although he will not be here to do so in person.

He has pulled together all his inner fortitude to be awake and available when they are all here.

It will be a very hard day on Saturday when they leave, but until then, it's lovely.

Sweet Sparrow, I'm so sorry to hear that your little one is struggling. I am sending my hopeful and healing messages your way. What an exciting entry into this world she made!

It's great to get together with families and we all look forward to it, but sometimes the stresses involved and the germs that get shared put a strain on things! But think, in a couple of months, most will look back and just remember the good times you had.
I admire those of you who have set some parameters for future celebrations. People you only see a few times a year don't always see how your capability to "do what you've always done" has changed.

Please rest as well as you can, dear friends, and take some time in the day to just enjoy the moment.

    Good night!

Usually the sale is 30% after Christmas, and it doesn't usually go to 60% until late Jan/Feb, i noticed huge signs in the windows today when I was at hallmark next door so ventured in. The clerk said this was the first time they had discounted this much so early so I feel very lucky! It may have something to do with our slow economy in Alberta.
