I think that my DS is having a growth spurt! He put on his snowpants this morning and he's complaining that they're too tight. They're fairly new, and the length is still good, so I don't want to buy new ones yet.

Surely there's a product out there that can attach to the snaps at the top of his snowpants to give him a bit more room at the waist? Anyone know?

And while we're at it, the zipper pull on his jacket broke too. It still zips, but there's not much of anything to hold onto to pull it. The loop that the zipper pull is attached to is broken off, there's nothing to connect anything to. Anything that can be done to fix that?

    Thanks in advance!

    My goodness!

You could always cut them and sew segments of wide elastic or fabric in, reattaching the part with the clips afterward.

I guess a safety pin or paper clip might work on the zipper. Maybe you could cover it somehow? Check with a fabric store to see if they sell something. I think they might.

At that rate, though, maybe it's time to buy a snowsuit in a size that will fit next year as well! They're all on sale now! Big winter boots should help to kind of push up the extra length.

What brand is the snowsuit? I know many of the brands will replace it when it breaks. I have had to get many a zipper replaced on my kid's coats. If the loop is broken off, the only thing I can think of is to crazy glue something like a paperclip or key chain to it temporarily.

But look into having the company/store replace the zipper.

Do you have the straps undone all the way? There is nothing wrong with no doing the zipper on the snowpants up all the way either. It's covered by the coat.

Thanks for the ideas! We haven't been using the straps, he didn't like them, but maybe we need to put those back into use.

The set is one I bought at our Sears bargain basement over the summer for $15.99! It's on their website for over $100. I'd bought it kind of big, hoping it would fit this year, and it did. I should look into contacting them to see if they'd fix it.

Pretty sure Sears has some sort of kid's guarantee on their clothing. I could be wrong though. Otherwise to replace a zipper is about $20-30 depending on the size of the zipper at most cobblers and seamstresses.

Looks like it doesn't cover clothing purchased at Sears Outlet though.

I had the zipper pull problem with a pair of boots I bought - it happened within a month or two of purchase. I took them back to the store and they sent me to the shoe repair place in the mall and and they would pay for the repair. The original boot had a plastic pull, but they added a long metal zipper pull instead and it worked just fine. If they can put it on a boot I imagine they can put it on a coat!

I haven't had my coffee yet so I can't quite visualize what you're saying, but if it's the part that the zipper pull is connected to that's broken, this website here will show you how to fix it. I don't know how easy it is, but might be worth it.

I just had issues with both of my kid's coats and the zipper kept splitting...thought I was going to have to get new coats (no!) but I Googled the problem and found a solution, yay!
