It is legal tender, so you can spend it and it will be worth 20 dollars. You might have to take it to a bank instead of a store because they might be suspicious of it.

Also, for everyone who is interested in the 20 dollar coin, you can also purchase another set of 12 quarters for 3 dollars, free shipping. Also equal value and a special commemorative set. Unfortunately these will ship out in the middle of February so it would be preordered.
